Hello everyone this is my second review on restaurant and I want to share my experience with you all, recently we had a very good birthday party of one of our friend and he treated us at Caraven Serai. We all are known with the proverb.
First impression is the last impression" and same happened with me for this restaurant. It would suggestion all that if you looking for good ambiance and Indian Multi cuisine restaurant near bandra then "Caraven Serai" is a perfect place for you.
The restaurant had a buffet which includes 5 -6 starters(3 veg and 3 nonveg) along with mumbai chatt and drink served as a complimentary.North Indian, Turkish, Lebanese, Mughlai were served in Main course & around 6 desserts.
About the Ambiance
When I entered into restaurant only one word came out of my mouth was wahhooo! and that was for the Ambience La Jawab.You will feel like that you have entered some afghani restaurant with all the staffs dressing like the afghans and music is being played with a soft and low sound that will amuse you.
The seating arrangements are very cool they are absolutely cozy and will give us a you a warm feeling. The curtains and the interior of the restaurants will take to remind of some afghani old forts and that actually seems to be nice and you will find authentic Mughlai city before you.
About the Starters
They served us with a drink you have a choices there you can prefer limesoda, beer, lassi aur chhass any one, after that they gave us some mumbai chat for starters which included Sev puri, Pani puri, Dahi puri & Bhel.
Once we are done with this then they served us with more like Pudhinaa paneer tikka, Hara bhara kebeb, Cripsy chicken and Fish butter fry. The starters were really tasty and am pretty sure that you will forget every other taste you had earlier.
About the Main course
With such delicious starters I have expected the main course to more delightful and tasteful and this happened when we finished with our starters and approached towards the main course we had Murg Dum Handi, Murg Do Pyaza, Banarasi Koft, Dal Bhkhari(It is all time caraven favourite) and Jhinga nisha. They also has a varieties of bread and that too had layer of yummie butter. They served us with Butter roti, Naan, Lachha paratha, Roomali roti and Naan serai.
Also added some variations in rice plates like Murg Dum Biryani, Kashmiri pulao which contains fresh vegetables in it with fine aromatic indian spices in it and finished on dum.
The Banarasi Kofta were super tasty it has some cauliflower dumplings an cheese stuffed on it with some fresh fruits at added the taste more in it.
About the Desserts
After done with your marvelous starter and main course we all always look for some sweet dishes and caraven serai had it for us with multiple desserts to serve you. Included in desserts were Gulab Jamun which very so soft that you just have to keep it in your mouth and it just vanishes.Phirini ade from basmati rice with a flavoured milk in it. Shabnam ke Moti and Malai Kulfi.
About the Timings
The restaurant has flexible timings for lunch it is from 12 noon to 4 pm and for dinner is 7pm to 1am(open on all days).
About the Cost
The place is bit expensive but looking at the food it is worth I think it was around 600 per person for buffet inclusive of all taxes. It accepts all cards payments so not worry about the cash.
About the services
The staff here really polite and two members will always be near you till you finish your food. The waiting period for the food is extremely negligible. The Manager comes to you in every 10 mins to ask about service and its really appreciable.
So here I conclude my review by rating the restaurant as 3.8 out of 5.I am glad to visit here for buffet the ambience gives you a different earthy feel with some north indian tadka. Ensure to reserve your table, because even on weekdays this place is brimming with hungry foodies. Perfect place to unwind with friends and family. Would definitely be back here again for good Indian food.
