Megadeth is truly one of the best bands we have. No one thought that Dave Mustaine after being kicked out of Metallica will jump back to form one of the greatest bands in history.
Capitol Punishment is a kind of '' Best of Megadeth '' album, although it leaves out a lot of its best songs.
Reviewing the songs, Kill the King is a new addition and I would rate it mediocre.
''Dread & The Fugitive Mind'' and ''Crush'' are awesome songs. They get you alive and singing and headbanging. '' Almost Honest'' is kind of sentimental, still raw and keeps it going. ''Tout le Monde'' is one of my favorite songs till date and full credits to Mustaine for his vocal and literary abilities. '' Train of Consequences'' makes you pump your adrenaline.
Songs like Holy Wars and Symphony of Destruction continue the same.
So basically it is a good compilation from a commercial design perspective. It is aimed primarily for the mass market, so it contains all their major radio singles and almost nothing else, emphasizing the more rich, melodic sound of their mid–to–late–1990s records.
So people listening for the first time , this is the album to start with and you will fall in love with it.
How ever for the hard core metal fans it leaves them confused. Megadeth became Metal heroes for it's raw, trashy aggression. This album lacks that as it kind of sticks to majority of it's melodic tunes. At the end, it kind of leaves you wanting for some thing more. Some thing more popwerful which is generally the ingredient of Megadeth Albums. A couple of songs more would have made it a better deal.
Indeed, for largely uninitiated hardrock fans seeking a brief overview of Megadeth's commercial highlights, its combination of expert design and powerful songs make it an excellent purchase
