Cannon I am told is the original lens maker and a lot of companies procure lens from canon.
Great finishing of the entire camera.
Instructional manual is presented very well and all the functions and their features and how to use them can be grasped in the first time itself.
So why not buy camera from the company who is the ORIGINAL LENS MAKER of the camera. Plus their picture quality is really fantastic, especially day time pictures are always fantastic.
However PICTURES TAKEN IN THE NIGHT come JUST ABOUT OK. It takes time to know the right mode in which to click pictures in the night. Still pictures taken in the night come just about ok especially of a far away well lit building or monument.
This is one great drawback or maybe I haven't been able to locate the right mode as yet in which to click those pictures. So research on that.
The MOVIE MODE is also good but picture quality again is OK, especially of movies clicked at night as they come dark since they are recorded without the assistance of a flash and only the lighting that is lit is captured.
DO NOT GET TEMPTED TO BUY the camera BECAUSE OF MOVIE MODE.
Also now a lot of cameras in the same pice range as A400 come but they are much THINNER. Thats a BIG ADVANTAGE especially when you want to TAKE CAMERA TO WEDDING FUNCTIONS etc. Canon A400 has good thickness and also has a decent weight.
The ONLY PLUS POINT I see is that the DAY TIME PICTURES clicked on A 400 are the BEST COMPARED TO THE OTHER 3.2 pixel cameras that I have seen.
Also now the cost of these cameras have now come down but definately whatever you buy always try to get the slimmest camera as that is easiest to carry around.
I bought this camera only because it was among the cheapest and the best camera when I bought it six months back.
Now prices have fallen by a good number and a lot of models that were expensive earlier come in under Rs 10,000 price bracket, so do more research guys on this.
I got the camera from Capital Studio, B - 5 Connaught Place a great shop for buying cameras of other brands also.
