I have been using couple of canon cameras like PS A470 and compared to all the picture quality in this PS-3IS was excellant. The only problem I faced was regarding the battery which is not the usual chargeable LI battery but normal 4 AAA ones.
This model also had a better Zoom compared to my earlier models and also the grip for holding the camera tightly was better.
The other important specification is the format for Video supported is AVI. Incase you need to play in DVD then it might require appropriate conversion to the format supported.
The pricing for this model is slightly at a higher end. However considering the value it has given it is one of the best model for a person who has had considerable experience as beginner with the digital camera. This is definitely a better one for one level up compared to the beginner.
