Before writing the review I would like the describe how much I am into photography in short. My first camera was Kodak Easyshare which I used for 6 months. Later I switched to Canon Powershot which I used for until I bought Canon EOS 400D. I realized my interest in photography when I started shooting with Powershot. Thereafter I have been reading tons of material on photography and practicing them on Powershot. As my interest grew I felt cramped with the features of Powershot and finally decided to go for SLR, of course a Digital. In my opinion this review will be useful for people using PS camera and looking for SLR, those who already have SLR may not find this very useful or informative.

I bought Canon Rebel XTi camera(Black) from US for 28k with 18-55mm kit lens. In case you are not aware Canon market this camera in US as Rebel XTi while in International market it is sold as EOS 400D.

*=>This camera is great. If you are coming from point and shoot camera then I bet you will find yourself in ocean of opportunities.

=>Although the kit lens is the cheapest, it will give sharp image compare to PS camera, or at least compare to my Powershot.

=>Buttons are arranged in such a manner that frequently used functions are just a click away.

=>Camera is very fast to start, to focus and to shoot. No matter what you are doing with camera, press the shutter button half way and you camera is ready to shoot.

=>I recommend to buy one tripod along with this camera, be it a small. You definitely need a tripod to use SLR in night for long exposure.

=>Minimum noise at higher ISO, even at 1600.*

For those who are confused between Nikon and Canon(Rebel XT, Rebel XTi, D80) please do not compare the camera technically. If price is the issue buy the cheapest among these. If you already own a PS camera then follow the same brand(hope you have either canon or Nikon). And if price is not a issue then go to store look all of these and buy which one you like most. Believe me you won’t get disappointed by any of these camera, they all are good SLR. As I said if you are coming from PS camera and planning to buy SLR for first time then with any SLR you will be in ocean of opportunities.

Hope you will find this useful.
