This is a petty matter, but reflects on how customers are taken for a ride; hence is being shared.
I happened to visit the Jayanagar outlet on May 21, and ordered sugercane juice with chaat flavour.
The person who serves juice at the counter, sprinkled very tiny quantity of chaat masala on the juice, after pouring juice in the glass; but did not stir it. As expected, the masala settled at bottom of the glass. I requested him for spoon/ stirrer. I was told they have neither. Instead, he suggested me to shake the glass to mix it. I pointed out that glass being 90% full, juice will spillover. On this, he suggested to drink half of it first, and then shake the glass to mix masala with left over 50% juice. I told him, he shall appreciate that the idea was not to have 50% plain juice, followed with balance juice with double the masala concentration. I suggested him to give me an empty glass, to enable me to mix the masala. He said that will cost me another Rs. 20/- as that is rate per the glass irrespective of whether glass is served with juice or empty. I asked him why I shall pay double the amount for juice worth one glass? I was told, rest of the customers do not come up with such special requests, and that was an additional cost I shall bear for being stingy. On asking, is this how he intended to have more business; he bluntly replied that I shall not visit the outlet in future, if I chose to continue to be stingy, and that rest of his customers will overwhelmingly continue to provide him patronage, anyway.
