My review is about Candies at Mac Ronells, that venerable old Bandra institution - Mac R, not Candies that is! Candies is hugely popular, a fact that is abundantly obvious by the volumes of disorderly parked cars blocking the narrow Bandra streets outside.
Once you push your way in, believe me on a weekend and on every day from late evening onwards, you will have no other choice than to push if not navigate in some other manner through the hordes of young patrons to get to the self service counters. There are no sign boards so if you want veg stuff, you will most likely end up wasting time at the non veg counter before you realise that veg is in a separate and less crowded area. Due to these crowds, it is not possible to see the food selection on offer in the display counters until you reach the head of the queue.
Assuming you have got that far, and have decided on your choice, then be prepared to wait for the indifferent sales boys and girls to attend to you. After you have placed your order, be equally prepared for the sales person to come back after quite some time and inform you that your choice is not available! Assuming that you have not lost patience by this time, then you will eventually get your food. Now for the fun and games if you want to eat in. Slim chance of getting one of the limited tables unless you have a companion to grab it for you while you are at the counter queue!
Quietly take your parcel, go home and eat it - that is the best advice especially if you do not want to eat in crowded, noisy surroundings. The food is tasty enough but not cheap. For the money paid, there is an awful hassle to get the food. We have had enough, this was our third visit and the crowds and disorganized air just keep getting worse. Never again Candies at Mac Ronells.
