I find we have very large write ups in general for this category. I will keep mine short.
What is Terror?
Terrorism is a living being’s defiance of authority based on misinformation, satisfying the greed of select few. It will continue as long as the greed of rich western countries continue. Terrorism now would not have been present if Rich western countries have not groomed them by supplying arms.
The Leaders
If you see the major leaders of pseudo-freedom fighters they enjoy. Saddam has very many palaces and his family members are next to God. Prabhakaran(Chief of LTTE) has his son studying in UK when children of lesser tamils fight in lankan forests. Smaller the country, more the number of medals the general would be wearing and they will come in an army uniform to attend a marriage.:-)
The Right
The victorious is right. Always. Had Hitler won the world war, there would not be any middle east conflict. He would have been a modern day Alexander/Queen Victoria. Hey, I am not saying he has done good, but that is the psychology. Abetting terrorism and banana republics was done by Americans(Iraq, Afghanistan, Very many African chieftains) but when you feel the repercussions, you declare war on terror. Americans were deemed terrorists by british when they chucked them out of America in 1757. Mexicans were terrorists when they said ‘take a hike’ to Spanish throne.
The Power
As long as you are strong, you can do whatever you want and get away with it. You can bring down a passenger jet half way across the globe when you have no business to be there with your fighter planes. You can bring down the spy plane of a super power from international air space, say buzz off to the most powerful man in the world and still get MFN status because you have the power and you know where to give a blow to hurt the most. You can still be proud on the fact that Osama is free after bombing a marriage party in Afghanistan.
Strategic balance
Kashmir is a different place after post 9/11 scenario and the bushie who did not get majority of votes and who asked whether Musharraf is the prime minister of India is now giving speeches on you should observe restraint and not take preemptive strikes on Pakistan occupied Kashmir, when he himself is bombing Iraq and Afghanistan with no proper evidence and success. Regional balance is altered when something happens to the powerful.
To have peace, you need to be strong technologically and economically. You need to be one of the best in the world. You need to take cue from China and US and make yourself a formidable power. Only then, others will respect you.
Rome was not loved but admired and feared.
