Located in and around Milpitas is a trekking trail not much known to many and known to some as the Mission Peak Regional Park, exists a trekking path with winding walk paths across the hillside. The road leads to the base of the trail where you have a parking spot to park your vehicle. There are resting spots every few miles. Unlike many nature trails, Ohlone has well cleared pathways making it accessible to people of all ages. You wont have to climb rocks or try tom cruise stunts to get on top. Just walk and keep walking. From the top, the awe-inspiring view you get of the marshy lands, downtowns and the surrounding hillscapes of California is the reward of the 4 hour labour - which is what I guess would take for an average healthy guy to reach the top (with adequate rest stops along the way).

If you are lucky you may get to see paragliders gliding down from the top passing you at eye-to-eye level. Believe me, its wonderful to see that. If you are of the kind who does that. Then hey you have come to the right place. The authorities allow that!

From the top, one can view the natural beauty of california. And some may wonder - at the end of the day, forget all boundaries and borders. This beauty of mother nature, this masterpiece of the power above is what covers the entire earth - be it in india, us, pakistan, iraq, china... anywhere in the world. This is happiness. Standing in humble submission to the nature.

One your way back, you can check out the small brooke that runs near the base. Back the at base you can find water fountains (for drinking) and lavotories (you might not really care to use that though!).

Back to facts. If you plan to visit Ohlone, you might care about the following points:-

  1. Take water with you. Lots of water. Don't expect soda fountains enroute. And there's no pub at the top :).

  2. Don't litter the place with garbage. Apart from the legal fine imposition, you really dont want to dirty the place.

  3. Take a camera with you. There's really good stuff to click away enroute and on the top.

If you get a chance do visit it. It's nice place for a team activity. Good luck.
