California is really hard not to like. They seem to have the perfect climate.
On a recent visit, the weather was abnormally cool. I was looking forward to the nice sunny California, but to its advantage, even when it is cool there it is not miserably cold like it is here in my state, Oregon.
There are so many things to see in California, In San Diego there is Sea World and all the missions around San Diego. There are Palm trees on every street and they are so tall and pretty. It seems like everything is one hour away from San Diego. Los Angeles is and orange counties are about an hour away. There you can see Disney Land and Knotts Berry Farm. Also, there is Universal Studio’s.
California is not a cheap place to live or to visit. It seems like all the theme parks and other attractions are about 40 dollars for adults to get in. I think that is high for a family of four. Maybe I am cheap. I did not feel like paying that much money to go to a place where I could not take advantage of all the attractions. I was not going to pay 40.00 just to see It’s a small world, which is my favorite attraction at Disneyland in California.
There are a lot of limousines in California and you can see them on all the freeways. When I was leaving and checking in my baggage one pulled up curbside and Donnie Osmond got out. He was dressed all in black. From his black sunglasses down to his black shoes. There was no mistaken Donnie though. He was trying to be inconspicuous. I guess. Getting out of a limo dressed like all in black is not the best way to do that.
There are a lot of bugs and spiders in San Diego that I was not use to. We have spiders and bugs here but they are not the kind that normally can hurt you. Out on the back porch of my daughters home there was a BIG snail like creature that had crawled up the fence and was hanging on. It looked like it had a part slug under its shell.
There is a bad ant problem in San Diego now too. When I went to get my hair permed there, was an infestation of them on the shampoo sink. The beautician quickly removed them and was quite embarrassed about it. It was not a Beverly Hills Salon, but I was not expecting this. I was not expecting to pay 65.00 for a bad permanent either. But I am digressing.
If and when you go to California, be prepared to drive fast. Everyone in California drives fast. They drive fast to the store and to the schools. There seems to be no slow lane in California.
Even the people that drive older car’s drive fast. This is on the regular streets. The freeway is another nightmare. They drive like maniacs on the freeway.
They have wonderful supermarkets in California, We went into one that wanted us to sample everything, they sold individual slices of all of the cakes in the bakery. I am no country Bumpkin (I don’t think), but the cakes there are divine. So are the deli’s that serve fresh sandwiches. And did I mention Krispy Kreame doughnuts. They are to die for. Especially when they are hot off the conveyor belt. People line up outside to get in and get them. They are one of the popular attractions in California.
Would I want to live in California, No, but it is a nice place to visit. I am afraid I could not afford the high prices in California. If you are planning a trip to California there will be many things for you to see there. Just bring money and plenty of it.
