This review is about the branch (newly opened) at Thakur Village, Kandivali in Mumbai. It is on the Thakur College road, near D-Mart.
I have always been a loyal visitor to Barista cafes in Mumbai and when Cafe Coffee Day (which I had heard about from a relative in Bangalore) opened in Mumbai, I could not wait to check it out!!
I think its a great place to visit.
The best thing is the coffee and the ambience.
They have a wide variety of hot and cold coffees. I prefer the cold ones, though, personally. The cafe latte is excellent. Also, try the cafe mocha if you like a chocolate flavor in your coffee. Among the hot ones, I love the Ethiopian Qahwah. It comes in a giant-sized cup and I could only finish it with my husband's help :)
You can also add different flavours to your coffee (cinnamon, chocolate, caramel etc.).
They normally dont add sugar but give it to you on the side so that you could add as much as you want.
The ambience is great. Very clean, well-lighted and airy. There is a young feel to it. At this branch, they have a sofa arrangement too which is very comfortable.
The only problem that I have is the practice of having a TV set that is perpetually on MTV or Channel V or something and something loud and jing-bang going on.....It would be much better to have some soft music or something....
But this is the case even in Barista....
I also tried the various eats out there. I recommend the veg. wraps and the chicken ciabatta (italian sandwich). Avoid the pizza. Sometimes, the food smells a bit stale. Stick with the coffee to be on the safe side.
They have various types of sundaes too........I tried the chocoholic one. Very yummy but heavy.
The desserts are divine. They have yummy chocolatey cakes (which they serve with chocolate sauce)..........I am a complete chocoholic and apple pie (which I never try).
This place is mostly frequented by the youngsters in this area....also the collegians from Thakur College. I think its a great place to get your date or come with friends.
Its also a great place to go to after dinner (for dessert and coffee).
The prices are very reasonable (compared to Barista, not our local Udipi) too and an average coffee would cost about Rs. 40.
