Taj Palace Hotel in New Delhi, with all its glitz, glamour and pride looked marvelous on the CNN-IBN Indian of the Year Awards Night on 2nd February 2009. Earlier we knew that comparing stars across generations is tough, but what when you decide to choose between achievers in a calendar year?

Yes…that is what has been targetted at CNN-IBN Indian of the Year Awards Night. Really and Truly, it can become absolutely tough business, thrilling and mesmerizing.It is absolutely imperative to say that Rajdeep Sardesai and his entire crew has laid strong foundation in these three years of its journey and have become the best national news channel.

Be it through google search, or channel surfing it is easy to say CNN-IBN is one of the most searched or read or seen media channel in India. Since its inception sheer hard work and dedication, this channel has succeeded in making news highly believable..Whether because of its crew or its experimental sense of journalism it is hard to say.

The award ceremony, stretched till 2 hours had several categories to honor people of India from all ranks of the society and in all fields of work. CNN-IBN Indian of the Year Awards stand out from the clutter in a number of ways as it is not merely a celebrity circus, or for that matter “a popularity contest”. It is not an insensible test of "stardom".

Instead it is loads about true honor, that needs to be bestowed on true achievers. Hence this award ceremony goes beyond the common ways of acknowledging news-making skills and become a very heartwarming event for “Aam Jananta”, every Indian”.

· CNN-IBN Indian of the Year (Global Indian Category)-Musician A. R. Rahman

· CNN-IBN Indian of the Year (Extraordinary Service to the Nation Category)-Tukaram Ombale and Mumbai police

· CNN-IBN Indian of the Year ( Entertainment Category)-Aamir Khan

This award ceremony has honored almost all the achievers of India for the year 2008.The best part of the show were when the brave martyrs of Indian police force were honored. T

his deserves special mention as the compeers and Rajdeep Sardesai made it a point as to make each and every audience feel and almost see what these brave Hearst have gone through, with their description of the incidents and narration of the fierce truth.

However, the most entertaining part was the section when Mrs. Shiela Dixit received the award. With her intelligence and bold answers she once again mesmerized all and got tremendous rounds of applause for all her words. With a touch of Journalistic fervor, all the crew of CNN-IBN has successfully handle the show and once again made it capture the highest TRP in that busiest slot of television.
