CIBIL - Credit Information Bureau(India) Ltd. India's first credit information bureau- is a repository of information, which contains the credit history of commercial and consumer borrowers. CIBIL provides this information to its Members in the form of credit information reports.
A Credit Information Report(CIR) is a factual record of a borrower's credit payment history compiled from information received from different credit grantors. Its purpose is to help credit grantors make informed lending decisions - quickly and objectively.
In layman terms, a CIBIL Score often determines whether an application for a credit card, loan etc. will be approved / declined. Now-a-days even telecom companies and employers use CIBIL score for applicants & prospective candidates.
There is a provision on the website which allows borrowers to buy their Credit Information Report(including CIBIL TransUnion Score) for Rs. 450 which is paid online. After the payment is made, a registration ID is generated & there are 5 questions to be answered for authentication. Once these are answered successfully, the webiste promises that the report will be mailed to the e-mail ID.
However, even after successful authentication and online payment on 29.11.2011, I'm yet to receive my credit information report due to some sort of a "Technical Issue". It has been 18 days now & I'm yet to receive the report.
Moreover, there is no recourse to complain except their incompetent customtakeouter care who have the standard response - "we have raised your query with the concerned department". Apart from that, they have no clue when the credit report will be generated, if at all.
Worse, there is no centralised toll-free customer care number. All calls have to be made to their Head Office in Mumbai(+91-22- 6638 4600) from where the calls are routed to a centralised customer care.
The other option is to send mails to info@cibil.com, an option which I haven't as yet exercised.
Furthermore, there is no provision of issuing refunds to the applicant once the payment is made. So in case you do change your mind because of the delay, there is no way that you're going to get your money back.
If any MouthShut_Official user is interested in getting their CIBIL Report, please call their office at+91-22-6638 4600 before paying online so that you may be spared the unending wait.
Also, please do let me know if any other user has faced a similar problem & any solution to it.

Update 24/12/2011: I got the CIBIL report today. All’s well that ends well I guess. Happy Holidays & a prosperous 2012 to all of you.
