AVERAGE SERVICE. Review on CESC Ltd

CESC has the monopoly in power supply in kolkata and its surroundings. It is true that their services has improved from the past now a days you will not see frequent power cuts in its area. but their charges are very high if we compare it with other private power supply company. because they have monopoly here that is why they are putting such high charges on their customers. monopoly is not good for any market. Another thing is that they do not follow their own words. Every month the day which they will tell us that their representative will come to our house for the meter reading it is quite obvious that that person will not come on those scheduled days. If you ask them about it they will simply reply you with a sorry message and that's it.Every month they are doing this irritating thing with their customers. In the previous month I got a bill of rs 1600 which was higher than my regular usage consumption so when I checked the meter reading and found that the meter reading was taken wrongly. I called their 1912 service and that man simply told me that it will be adjusted to my next month's bill, they didn't even apologise. And another ridiculous thing is their employees suggestions, for example this time I paid my electricity bill after I get it in my email which I generally do. I do not wait for the paper bill but CESC'S call centre representative told me that I should have check the meter reading each time when I get my paper bill which is just not only annoying but not possible for each time. My question is why you are not employing fit candidate for the meter reading job? And why I have to do the hard work I am the consumer you should have take care this problems. now I want to come to their charges which is very very high. the real problem is lack of competition in power supply sector in kolkata. If you look at the telecom market now a days which is shaken by the entry of JIO and the competition is so high that every telecom operators are giving some lucrative recharge packs for their customers. My view is that almost 24-25 lakh people of Kolkata and its surroundings use CESC'S service not by their choice but by the lack of option in the market. I do not live in proper kolkata my house is situated in greater Kolkata region and here in a week I face 2-3 hours of power cut because of their silly maintenance work done by some very unprofessional people.
