Most of us marry just once in a lifetime and we hope to make the event as memorable as possible. CKC has definitely made me remember the event but not in a way I would have liked.
I went to the store to pick up an engagement ring for my girlfriend (now my wife) so that I could propose marriage to her and surprise her. The people who attended to me were extremely helpful in giving suggestions and explaining the various aspects of the ring which was Greek and Latin to me. After the selection process, I ended picking up a platinum ring with a solitaire.
I went down on one knee and proposed marriage to my girlfriend who accepted (thank God!) and she loved the ring I got her. We eventually got married. After a couple of months, we noticed that the diamond started moving while we were on our honeymoon!
We went to the store and met the same person who had sold the ring to me and explained the problem. They said it was some mistake with the setting and said that I could come after 1 month to collect the ring. While I wasnt too happy about it, we patiently waited for a month.
When we went to collect the ring 45 days later, we found that nothing had been done and the diamond was still moving. To my surprise, the store manager tried to convince me that it was ok and thats when I lost my temper and asked them to get it rectified properly.
I was asked to wait for 1 more month and at the end of which the ring was delivered to my house. This time it looked ok and we accepted the ring only to realize that 2 days later the diamond was moving again!!
We went yet again to the store and asked what the real problem was and that when the store evangelist (fancy names for the crap work they do) told us that they had to put two extra prongs to hold the diamond in place and this would rectify the problem permanently without changing the way the ring looks. Of course, this took another 45 days.
Keeping my fingers crossed, we go to collect the ring and to our great surprise, the diamond was not moving but the ring now looked like something I would have done using a welding machine in my engineering college! We rejected the ring, reiterating the fact that it is an engagement ring and there are sentiments attachments to it and we would want it the way it had looked originally.
This was when the owner, I believe a Vinod, enters and tries to reason it out to us that we are actually making a profit on the ring!!! I thought it took the icing on the cake as here I was trying to explain the sentiments attached with the ring and the guy was trying to put a price to it. Extremely angry, I told him that I was no longer interested to interact with him or his shop and took the refund on the ring and returned.
While the shop owner and attenders pretend to understand the sentimental aspects of the buyer, it is all a farce. I have decided never to enter this place again and I request everyone who is planning to buy something for a special occasion to think twice before going here.
