This is megha . We have just bought a new TV to take the world at our drawing room of our new apartment in Kharghar , navi mumbai . Earlier we had a 14" onida TV with not-so-good performance and my husband's PC have a TV tuner card also . This march , before the world cup cricket we had a plan to buy a big screen for our eye's only ...so we had 2 choices .... buying an LCD tv or a PLASMA tv . Both of these LCD/Plasma are the new technologies in TV ...and I can assure you once your eyes are stuck with it , you want to replace your ordinary TV with this one . Same thing happened to us ...we saw LCDs and plasma's in Center-one shopping mall in vashi also at some other places . Our budget was one lack for a new generation big screen tv . I personally wanted to buy a flat type of tv which can be fitted in walls .
After some hassles we finally bought samsung PS 42 Q7H .I will write review of this TV in appropriate section .
Now I am going to tell you why you should choose plasma TV over LCD tv .
one big reason is the money . In one lacs samsung have good plasma models but good LCD models start at Rs130000 .
Plasma TV's view angle is better than that of its counterparts , which means you can experience the joy of having a plasma TV from anywhere in the room , but not in the case of LCD . the authorised person who came told us that its viewing angle is 165 degree , which is quite good .
LCD tv's have a peculiar problem that it loses its brightness gradually .Plasma TV dont suffer problem like these ,
Plasmas have a higher contrast ratio and produce better
picutres because of the same specially the blacks, LCDs are not able to produce
true blacks and the screen will look greyish , which is a very big disadvantage for LCDs .
Plasma TV cosume less power . So if you have a plasma at home then your electric bill will be less .
Plasma TV had suffered a burning related issue previously , now because of some anti-burning software installed , that issue is a history .
So for all these reasons I believe its better to have a plasma tv than an lcd display , However if you look LCD tvs at showroom they will look much better because of excellent lighting ratio , which you may not have in your drawing room . We bought SAMSUNG PS 42 Q7H . I will write a review for that particular model also .
