*All of you! Beware! while buying laptop:


Why I am going to give you tips on Laptop Purchases:(my awful experience with HCL)


-** One HCL direct sales manager sold me a lap top




  • They took EMI scheme on my ICICI card, they took the full money 31500/- instead only 15000/-




  • Spend thru' nose on STD to speak to ICICI to reverse the credit entry




  • In HCL, they have models wherein the outer cabinet is same but the inside specs are different!




  • They cheat customers! Not to blame the Co., but the individual sales guys who carry the brand






image like that in desperately getting a sale.




  • The model had only provisions for TV tuner card connectivity, but never had the feature in it.




  • He showed the catalogue and also the demo during machine that if had the connectivity!.




  • but when I needed that facility one day, my SVD card was a waste purchase, when I actually saw






the bush on the left side cover panel meant for TV tuner facility was empty.


*typical road side(platform walas selling tricks!.




  • System had enough start up problems.




  • the installation guy came after one week of delivery.we should not use lap top till then.




  • mouse hanging/machine speaker had'humming' sound!?






*To get it replaced, I had a tough time.ya.there were two nice souls(may be HCL lives by few such people who care for service), other wise, I would have thrown the lap top in the marina beach.


Inspite of an ex-HCL friend of mine referred, this was their great service, didn't want to blame my friend though!


Never I WILL REFER HCL PRODUCT TO ANY ONE! EVEN IF THEY GIVE FREE OF COST!


*Dear Mouthshut Friends!


*1. Plan your budget, loan or own funds, specs have it clearly in written with you.




  1. Visit a direct showroom, never recommend these guys calling visiting home, you never know,




whether they represent a dealer, franchisee, direct.all say' I am from HCL', nice to know they


have been taught to say and maintain a same brand.original and duplicate is not the


same.right!




  1. see the demo, confirm the specs, release order in writing, keep atleast a scribbling pad, write with your pen handwritten with a carbon copy, get the order accepted and signed by them in return




  2. Mention clearly your price, terms and conditions etc.(like a co. releasing the purchase order)




  3. May be you can ask for a written quote from them, release your order with ref. to that quote.






(sometimes, they might say: I can't mention discounts.bla.bla.don't even trust them.)




  1. Once your lap top is delivered, on the spot, check with your P.O, if everthing is in line, till then, don't ever sign any dely. challan or receipt ack., as they have fine prints(recd. in good working condtion)




  2. May be upon your installation after few days, lap top may not work at all, they might blame you that you that you have spoiled it(as you have signed good working condition! it happens.)




  3. Keep a file for all their communication.




  4. Some of them have direct walk in service centers(meaning, when your lap top is under warranty repair, you have to go to meet them in their service point) - They don't come and do it at our door! Pathetic! out of our busy schedules, we go and beg them!.




  5. Keep sending chain emailers, if things don't happen the way it should be! keep asking for emails of top officials, and mention specific names, ref., incidents and write till you get what you want.




  6. Never leave your confidential data, (ask for a hard disc removal before they take lap top for service)




  7. it will look like very trustworthy people.but who knows where the snake is .milk is.




  8. you might lose your precious data.copyright matters can be copied.




  9. You look for all models yourself, never listen to the sales talk, as at times, these guys try and sell an outdated model by guessing your behaviour and your budget freak attitude.




  10. I heard HCL sells used RF machines as NEW machines.(like our automobile mechanics cheat by repairing the old part and saying that he has replaced, when asked for old part, he gives some one else's part(at times you know explicitly from his face, he is cheating!) some cruel professionalism and attitude from big brands.
