Hi, congrats you hae just embarked on a long deliberation. Well in the recent past I did too, and I landed up with a pretty good camera, I just wish this article had come up before, I could have saved so much time and money, ( in all those magazines I bought to read about buying a digital camera, yes thats right they have whole magazines dedicated to the topic.)

Well most of us really want to be part of the ever advancing technology, and want to take pictures just to show people and to email them to friends and family. If this sounds like you then read on.

Although 1.3 mega pixels is considered fine, you should look into the 2.0 to 3.0 category. This is because this category, will help you to take pictures more to your liking. and yeah look into the colour bits as many reviews say 24 bits works out fine.

Next thing look for the usb, or the memory card reader feature. Basically see what your computer needs are. some people will prefer the memory card reader, this for those that travel a lot and don't return home as often, but I prefer the usb mode, it is simple and faster to use.

Next is the memory card, most of the camera's come with a 8 to 16 mb card, you can upgrade yours to a 32 or 64 mb, again it is your needs that you need to keep in mind.

Another thing is the battery. Make sure that you get a rechargable set of batteries. Just so that you dont waste time and money buying the batteries your camera is sure to use.

Last but not the least. Research for you camera, and be on the look out, there are ever going sales some where or the other. look on the net for camera wholesalers they are a pretty reliable source for good deals. look into ritzcamera.com, for comparable prices. One thing to be remembered unless you are a brand name freak is that smaller unknown companies do offer the same features as big name brands and for lot less, so don't dismiss the camera if you don't recognise the brand name.

And another thing, take lots of pictures, and remember the digital camera allows you to choose which pictures you like and which you prefer to delete, this is by far the most compelling reason the digital camera is so popular, atleast it saves you the trouble of paying for all those unwanted snaps. so go on and indulge in a digital camera, just make sure you are making a good deal of and for it.
