I would suggest go for a Nikon S series Digicam.I have used S51 for one and it is much much better than and camera's in same range.
You will get more value for money if you purchase nikon camera's.Plus another factor is this camera accepts any SD card which few of the Major DIgicam Brand dont.
If you want to judge the best of camera's then test them in the night.you will immediately find the difference.Daytime photos from all the Digicam's will come very good but main test comes when its night time.
Nikon camera's give very very good performance at night time and hence I would recommend Nikon cameras.Check for various accessories that you can get with package with it.Screen protector is a must so difinetly look for it. One of my friend purchased a NIkon S550 and its night time photos are absolutely cool.
