About two months ago there was construction going on about two miles away from our apartment complex near a large business center. It was a smaller type building and we learned that it was going to be a Burger King. I am not one for fast food but sometimes I do get a hankering for a fry or two. In any case, as most buildings do in Arizona it was up and running before we knew it.

I am going to pause to ask, why do all the Burger Kings in America at

least have so much Neon Painting on them with their Specials that you can’t see in or out? It is not pretty to look at. Actually tacky would be more like it. I made a joke to my fiancé about it being a way to keep out the hot sun in Arizona. Here was this nice business complex with a nice chain restaurant near by and in between a Neon Haven. It looked awful and it still does.

I have had two experiences at this particular Burger King as I rarely leave the house at all due to agoraphobia. In any case, both times I took the food to go. It was double checked each time. The place was spotless and clean. The food was sizzling hot from the onion rings to the French fries to the Whopper. It was a nice experience, much better than I have had at the local McDonald’s which always seems to mess up my order. I used to love to go to McDonald’s for a soft cone but they make them so small now it is ridiculous. But back to the competition….

I will admit that I am not a fan of the Burger King French Fries at all. Even when they are piping hot fresh out of the oil, I just don’t really like them. This would be the reason that I order onion rings which I find to be pretty tasty there.

I always order a Whopper and let me just say that there is nothing that can compete with a Burger King Whopper. It is the ideal fast food big and thick burger. It has the sesame bun (which I love), the beef patty, shredded lettuce, pickles, onions, tomatoes, mayo (which I always leave off) and I think mustard and ketchup. It is absolutely delicious and it is huge in my tiny little hands. It is so good that somehow in this five foot body I once managed to eat three of them. I was really hungry that day.

I like that I can get and choose my own soda as well and they have lots of flavors from Rootbeer to Lemonade.

The customer service at Burger King has always been respectful and courteous. The manager actually apologized the last time we were there and gave us free onion rings because he was short handed and we had to wait longer than usual. I have worked many years in the restaurant business from being a cook to a server and I knew it wasn’t a big deal.

People call in sick, emergencies occur, and the drive-thru gets priority. Life goes on.

I don’t think the prices are any different than any other fast food chain. For my fiance and I with two combination meals and some onion rings it ges just over $10.00. The last time I got a meal at Wendy’s it was close to $20.00 for us. However Wendy’s does have chili. Not to get off the subject but wouldn’t it be great if you could combine Wendy’s, McDonald’s, and Burger King.

Just a Thought.

I have read for people watching their weight that the best menu item is the chicken tenders. I don’t count the fat or the calories. If I am having fast food, then there is no looking back!

Overall I give Burger King the highest rating over all the fast food chains except for In and Out Burger which is only in 3 or 4 states currently in the US. Burger King has a friendly atmosphere, always is clean inside, and the staff is polite. Oh, yes and the food rocks! So if you haven’t had a whopper, try one. You haven’t lived unless the Whopper has entered your World!

Until next time,

K Parsons
