Time Pass. Review on Bunty Aur Babli

The basic reason for watching the movie Bunty Aur Babli was twofold. One, our exams had finished so we had to watch some movie. Second, the attractive promos of the movie and the movie belonging to the comedy genre.

This is the second time Shaad Ali Sehgal has ventured to direct a film. Saathiya was his earlier product. The movie features Abhishek Bachhan and Rani Mukherjee in the lead role along with Amitabh Bachhan. The story begins with Abhishek and Rani leaving their homes for reasons of their own. But what they have in common is that both want to be “somebody”. Incidentally, they bump into each other. The situation gets moulded in such a way, that they become partners, rather partners in crime, as Bunty and Babli, since they need money to reach Mumbai where they hope of fulfilling all their dreams. Then starts a spree of their mischiefs. One after another, they continue with their deeds and collect a lot of money. Consequently, when they reach their destination, they find that they are in love with each other and cannot live without each other. Since Bunty decides to continue doing what he had been doing all the while during his journey from Fursatnagar to Mumbai, Babli cannot tread a different path and decides to assist her Bunty. They get married and follow the same course. Somewhere out there there is a cop who hates crime and thus sets out in search of these people. What follows is a bit of cat after mouse escapade. Let me keep away from opening the climax of the story here.

Shaad Ali has done a good job with the direction and you can spot in an item song in the movie also!!! Abhishek and Rani have given good performances.What may be a cause of disappointment for some people is that the plans Bunty and Babli make for fooling others sometimes seem undigestible. Also, the story would have been more impressive had the two scoundrels been shown to carve out their plans more strategically, to be short, in Hollywood style. The music of the movie is peppy. It quickly makes way to your lips. A surprise package is the guest appearance of Aishwarya Rai in an item number.

Overall, the movie is worth watching.
