Yeh world hai na world, iss mein do tarah ki movies hoti hain, pehli jo entertain karti hain or doosri jo entertain nahi karti. Bunty Aur Babli pehli hai.

Yash Raj Films is back with another fun-filled flick after Hum Tum. Bunty Aur Babli is about Running, chasing, Conning, fooling and most important of all, having loads of fun. Shaad Ali wanted to give the audience a feel of a different cinema (regardless of which era it’s from) and entertain people to the degree that when they exit the theatre, they feel satisfied.

Coming from a production house as big as YRF, Bunty Aur Babli carried big expectations. Apart from that, there is the grand starcast, mesmerizing music and excellent promotion that made the movie seem majestic well before it even released. So, the question is: Did Bunty Aur Babli live upto the expectations? And the answer, very rightly is: Yes, it did!

Bunty Aur Babli is a story of two youngsters, Rakesh (Abhishek Bachchan) and Vimmi (Rani Mukherjee) with a desire to make it big in life. They set out from their small towns Fursatganj and Pankinagar to test their luck. But all they achieve is defeat. The two come together and decide that they will go to Mumbai where their talent will be recognized but the next problem that they face is money. Where will the money to go to Mumbai come from? Bingo…this is where the chase begins. During this journey, Rakesh and Vimmi change into Bunty and Babli to blame all their doings on them.

They start collecting money for Mumbai and at the same time, making headlines all over. This is where Dashrath Singh (Amitabh Bachchan), a policeman who has vowed to catch the two, enters the movie. Will he be able to catch the two sensations who steal money for fun? Or will they get away with it?

The soul purpose of this film is to entertain the viewers so they have a good time for the duration of the three hours it runs. If you try to find logic in each and every scene, situation and character, you will get nowhere. This is not to say that the film lacks logic altogether but yes, there are some instances that are short of reasoning.

Jaideep Sahni has proved that a fun-filled, entertaining film doesn’t necessarily need a strong storyline. Bunty Aur Babli moves at a pace that is just right, neither too fast, nor too slow. It keeps the viewers engrossed and laughing.

Some of the highlights of Bunty Aur Babli are:

· When Rakesh and Vimmi meet at the railway station.

· When Vimmi is remembering her mom.

· Dashrath Singh’s entry.

· When Bunty and Babli try to sell the Taj Mahal.

· The nare bazi scene outside the office while Bunty and Babli are selling the Taj Mahal.

· The father-son duo dancing to the tunes of Kajra Re.

· The end.

Cons:

· Placing of the songs. Slows down the pace at times.

· Abhishek Bachchan must improve on his dancing skills, he’s not that charming in ‘Dhadak Dhadak’.

Jaideep Sahni deserves to be applauded for the awesome dialogues. They go perfectly with the screenplay and enthrall the audience.

Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy once again emerge as winners. The music is fresh and appropriate to the story and also goes well in the background. Cinematography is excellent as far as showing the real India is concerned.

It’s not just Aishwarya Rai who makes a guest appearance, Shamaik Dawar also pops in ‘Nach Baliye’, the song that he choreographed.

Amitabh Bachchan, a one-of-a-kind actor, fits the role like a piece in a jigsaw puzzle. Forget the footage Big B’s role alone is worth watching the film. Abhishek Bachchan does his part with his heart and soul in it. It’s hard to imagine anyone else in his place. Rani Mukherjee is holding the top slot at the box office these days and will continue to do so with Bunty Aur Babli. She is definitely an actress with versatility. Raj Babbar and Prem Chopra are good in the roles that they have.

The film’s [open] end leaves hopes for a sequel. YRF can easily take the story further and create another romantic comedy for the audience to enjoy.

To sum it up, the film will undoubtedly entertain moviegoers. It’s a Breath of fresh breeze, away from the usual bollywood flicks. The best way to stay cool and laugh a little this summer. Check this one out!
