Comedy without a proper storyline. Review on Bunty Aur Babli

Just saw the movie Bunty aur Babli. Couldn’t believe it is aditya chopra’s story coz there’s just no story in the first place! Both Bunty (Abhishek) and Babli (Rani) are happy conning away and fooling everyone. Both from different places (Rakesh alias bunty- banaras and Vimmi aka babli-punjab) meet up at a station when they both decide to run away from home. Bunty hates sarkari naukri for which his dad keeps pestering while Babli wants to be a Miss India but her father wants her to get married. And their experiences teach them, there’s no place for an honest person in this country.

So when they meet up by chance, they prove to be disastrous for rich men.

They rob a super mall, fool a financier’s agent and many others. But the interesting part is a take on Mayawati and Taj corridor case. Though not exactly the same, but Bunty and Babli lease out the Taj Mahal to a foreigner!

The dialogues are witty and the Shaad Ali’s direction is good. Gulzar’s lyrics seem like it’s been written on gunpoint coz that’s just not his style as the lyrics sound a little tapori . After Black, you feel Rani has been wasted.

But yes, shez a good entertainer. Abhishek and Rani share a great chemistry. Both are natural actors. Can say, Abhishek has really arrived. Big B as a policeman is OK coz his role’s too short and doesn’t really have substance. But it’s good to spot similarities between him and Abhishek when they share the screen. Can’t tell u any further coz then nothing remains to be seen! Also has Prem Chopra, Raj Babbar, Puneet Issar and Kiran Juneja Sippy.

Will appeal only the masses and yeah school going children. But still worth watching once if u are badly missing good humour.

• Aishwarya Rai’s superb item dance. She is graceful and u are gonna love her even more.

• Rani’s effortless Punjabi accent

• Abhishek’s ability to make u laugh

• The escapades of Bunty and Babli, though unreal.

• Great chemistry between the two.

• Thorough comedy.

WHY NOT TO WATCH THE MOVIE

• No story line

• Unbelievable con stories and escapades

• A tad too lengthy that it tends to bore for some time

• OK songs.
