Its a pity that they wont be rolling out any more of the Machismo's on the road. I guess I got the last batch of the'Machi - 500'. And I feel great about owning the'machine'.
Its been barely 2-weeks since I took control of the'Machi' and the road has become my second home. And its good to be'home'. Having done couple of long outings on the bike I sit down to share my bit of experience for those who may be browsing thru these pages for some info on whether to buy or not(though I was completely convinced on the Bullet, it always helps to have xtra info and experiences).
Riding'Machi' has been a learning exprience for me, particularly because I never owned a bike before and the only bikes I ever rode were that of my friends. But never a Bullet. And also I hadn't ridden a bike in over a decade. Cant really get into the reasons why I wanted to buy a bike, but lets just say I needed a bike. The day the thought came by the choices were limited to the Bullet. Now i'm the proud owner of Machi-500.
Ofcourse the long trip was more of a running in preiod for the bike. I landed up doing Mumbai-Pune-Mumbai(little over 350kms). Even at speeds of 40-50kms the bike felt majestic. it just hugged the roads and gave a royal feeling. At the end of the trip, I knew I had made the'Right Choice'. I really dont know how a 350cc would feel on the road but i'm sure it would be no match to the 500cc. It crusied thru the mini ghats with such ease that I felt may be even the Himalayas would be no match for Machi. She was fantastic.
Am presently in the middle of my 2nd road trip. Mumbai- Ahmadnagar-Mumabi(280kms one way). While Mumbai-Pune(175kms thru NH4) took nearly 4 and half hours, I was able to complete one leg of the Mumbai-A'nagar-Mumbai in flat 5 and half. Ofcourse courtsey that the initial running-in was done and first service was also done. I'm yet to stretch the bike to max speeds, but i'm in no hurry. It manages speeds of 70-80kms/hr pretty smoothly. And when you really want her to give you that little extra, she will oblige.
Overall the bike is worth every penny.
