Back in march last year when I was doing some research on the electra 5s I got some interesting feedback from my biker friends... there was a group of the so called die hard bullet fans (and their subclasses i.e the std 350 fans, the tb fans.. n so on)...

Then a group of bikers recommending bikes like the pulsar 200dtsi, apache rtr etc. and another group telling me to buy a second hand yamaha rx 100 and lastly a group of unsure people who said that bullets were expensive to maintain (how they came to be of this opinion without ever owning a bullet is a mystery to me tough)..... finally I went by the choice of the person I trust most....... me. ;-)

Now that the electra has carried me for 9 months, I feel that I am finally ready to write a review on THE bike. Initially it was hard to adjust to the bike. riding it in hevy traffic was especially demanding.( it probably induced some amount of hypertrophy in my pectoralis major tough)... but after 8 to 10 days I got used to the weight and riding height, and now I dont find it to be a problem at all.

Also there were a lot of minor problems that I had like.... Battery cable got cut (the part that is inside the crank case), then the ignition switch went kaput, there was a lot of starting trouble, the fuel tank lock got stuck etc... but most of these problems (except the fuel tank cap) were rectified by the first servicing. now the bike starts with the first kick without having to use the choke.

but the servicings are a little troublesome, time consuming, not all the problems r rectified, warranty support is poor, the dealers dont have a professional attitude like the bajaj or honda fellows, but they do have a lot of love for the bikes and that more than compensates for everything else. the fuel efficiency is good... I get 40 to 42 kmpl in the city after the 2nd servicing... done 3000k till now.

I recommend the bike to all who can spend 95k on a new bike... go for the twinspark if u have the 12k extra. the looks are great... people aks u abt the bike at signals, at parking lots.. everywhere.... all mechanics in town give u advice on maintainence........girls ask for a ride..(on the back seat of course).. friends wish they had a bullet too (there are some who say that they dont like the bullet but u can always tell them the story of the fox who thought that the grapes were sour...;-).....

Went to belgaum recently... total ride of 200km in a day... it was not tiring at all.. bike is very comfortable... but I should mention here that the thunderbird is better on comfort...so its recommended for those who have to ride a lot to reach work as it makes riding a bike such a pleasure.

No probems with the disc brakes or the electric sterter till date. the tyres leave a lot to be desired... rear tyre (dunlop) does not have a good grip... bike slips qiute frequently on wet roads. So... if u want a bike... buy a bullet.. if u like bullet, buy a bullet... u will like it even better... if u dont like bullet, buy it.. then u will start liking it.

Will keep writing as I cross new milestones with my electra....
