This is my bullet electra 5s first anniversary. I just sat back and went through the experience I had with my beast in the past year. The odometer reads 19000. I had around 7 trips and each averaging 900km per trip. If somebody asks what do I feel about my bike. Here you go.
I seized the engine in my second trip just by keeping the throttle fully open for half-an-hour. I regretted that moment that I would have gone for an AVL enigne (Machismo). My spirits didn't die down there. I got the engine block and piston head replaced and continued my adventure with a more disciplined approach. No more 100Km/hr speeding and always kept the speed between 80-90 Km/hr. Man it was a breeeze and I started understanding the dynamics of the bullet. Yet it doesn't stop there.
I am still highly sceptical about the clutch. I ended up changing the clutch cable thrice. Once I did it myself and the other two times with the mechanics. Okay too much of my personal stories. Let us get into the reality.
For those who consider the bullet as a cruiser bike like me (Born in India there is no other alternative other than Avenger). Does really RE improve their machines to the customer satisfaction? Why is that machine still an un-reliable piece of yester year wonder? NOT A JOKE. IF I WERE AT THE HELM OF RE's TOP BRASS, I would see to that my customers get the best quality product for the price they pay for it.
Okay my suggestion for those who dream of owning a crusier bike is to have an AVL engine fitted bike. Yaah I am thrilled to hear the beat of CI beast. But I don't want myself to be tune d to the machine's behaviour. I want my machine to be more reliable and does what I want to do?
Well having said this I know that I am within point blank range of ardernt "classic bullet lovers". But I can't help, the FACT stays where it is and I am ready to bite the BULLET. Shoot me!!!
