I went to Brussels ..the fun city of Europe last week on 8th October. Bored in my hotel room with my colleague, we planned an outing while having the lunch on Saturday, the 8th.

Paris, France and Berlin, Germany were top on our list for urgent and must visits.. but Brussels fared much lower in priority. We are currently placed at Den Bosch, Netherlands and Countries like Germany, France, Belgium or Luxembourg are only brisk distance away. Well we reached the Den Bosch station and enquired about the next train to Paris or Berlin.. Wow they were the next day only.. Maaan we felt really bad!!.

Then we got an option for Brussels, Belgium and thought to give it a go seeing its proximity to Paris which we can later visit too if we have time. We took two re-tour weekend tickets from Den Bosch, Netherlands to Brussels on a train 15 mins later?.. Wow that too for just 55.6 Euros.. That?s too good. Well we needed to change our train at Roosendaal, the last stop in Netherlands before we enter Belgium. Unlike our belief of the passport and visa enquiries at the borders, there were none. Things have really changed a lot in Europe after the Schengen agreement and travelling between Schengen Countries is never better than now.. Just no hassles!!!!

Differentiating Holland and Belgium is so easy? Netherlands is a trendy, modern country going for rapid GenX reforms whereas Belgium is still the typical Europe. Roosendaal to Brussels is about 2Hrs journey by SnelTrain and you get to see the green, bustling Belgium all along the way!!

Well Brussels Centraal (Train Station) was too traditional to explain.. u get the tar smell inside the train station which is all underground and it feels like you have landed in Medieval Europe.. it was heavenly feeling I must say though my colleague hated the smell J !! Just outside the Train station you will find Le Meriden? if u just plan to spend ur time in a cosy manner. We met a few Indians down the lane and they advised us to visit the palace, Museum and ya the Manikken Piss (I heard it as ?Money Can Piss?and cant stop my laugh). Well we saw these places and enjoyed the Manikken pissing on the Belgium roads J!!!

We had our dinner at ?La Maharani? an Indian restaurant near the station and settled for a moderate hotel to pass the night. The whole night went watching the football match between Real Madrid and Valencia? I am a big supporter of Real Madrid if that matters to the readers..J

Next day started with a quick shopping of T-Shirts tagged with Brussels and a brisk bath. We were set to go shopping and sprucing down the Brussels lane. Brussels is real Europe I must say with traditional roads, bridges and not to mention palaces and monuments. If you want to shop in Europe, stay connected to Brussels? it?s the cheapest. Telephone calls are even cheaper here (coz of Belgacom or Proximus for that matter..) .ISD is dirt cheap. Its even cheaper than making STD calls in India.

The interesting part was the trip to Salon, a busy street in Brussels. Man guess what I visited the biggest Car show room in the area only to see me dancing among Mercedes, McLauren and Maybach and stuff.. I tried many of them and took a lot of snaps..

Well Time to return to Den Bosch? The trip ends as the thought of going to office the next day mounts and so we zoooom towards our hotel.. A memorable trip round the woods.. that?s Brussels for you..

Cheers'

YA if in Brussels don?t forget the beers (biers in dutch).. its famous for that.. Famous ones are Jupiler and Kriks..
