Story:

Brida by Paulo Coelho

The book is a thesis on magic, but fortunately, the author doesn’t venture into black magic. The essence of the story lies in the mystical unfoldment of an individual spirit to the workings of the Universe and the songs of nature.

Brida, the individual spirit, embarks on a journey of self discovery, in which she matures into a witch, discovers her Soulmate, is taught by the Magus and Wicca, her teacher, and sees the world in a different light. She finally manages to commune with God through her journey of self discovery. She is the female energy of transformation, which when merges with the male energy of knowledge, becomes the ultimate wisdom of the universe.

Through her efforts, she gets to meet her soulmate, who is so essential to her inner growth. She also learns that the world and God can be seen and experienced and that previous lives and future lives can be visualized.

But she has to be brave, and keep on traversing the path to be able to see the truth. In the process, she meets others, sages and wizards, who live in their astral bodies and can see that the whole of humanity is touched by divinity.

The story gets scary many times, with Brida, visualizing many scenes of her previous lives and the visions of saints, history and the past keep visiting her. But she never loses sight of her goal, continues to question on and finally reaches her destination.

Personally, I feel that the book is a piece of imagination and that none of these things do really exist. Science could never appreciate such truths, but if you’re looking for some serious fun and excuse to let your imagination run wild, this book is the ultimate escape.
