Branded computers have labor costs included..
Oct 06, 2001 01:40 AM 3442 Views

In not any way am I a professional on this topic. But, using common sense and what I have learned through networking with friends and family, building a computer is best. When you build, * you * control the cost and what goes into it. Lots of systems purchased complete from manufacturers are not always complete for your needs. And, the added cost of the labor and the brand name are included into the purchase price over the cost of actual'pc'.

Like a good computer, *'I' * can back myself up:

When I first became infatuated{remember your * first * time, LOL}I surfed a lot of pc stores, magazines, and advertisements. Overwhelmed, I sought help. Finding out that I would get a lot more for my money through having one built to my qualifications{rather than the only store in town's single offer}, I ordered mine with a trusted relative who was pc literate. Lining it all up on paper and comparing what the company would give me, and what I got at the store, I got more for my money on selected functions. But, when this great system I have goes, I have an even better deal to go for. I will buy the parts and systems and have this relative build it for me. No labor, no unwanted add-ons, and no'junk' function. Even someone who charges a small fee if you buy parts, is cheaper than buying an assembly line often.

Company ads flood the airways:

With major companies completing for business, they floor the market, and you are * convinced * through their promotions that they have the best deal. Not so! The best deal are the motherboards built with * you * in mind. You purchase your broswer equipment, processor and on and on. You may not need or want what a particular company uses to drive your system. When you * bake * a cake, you use your own ingredients purchased single handedly at the supermarket. You used a recipe you * liked. * Next computer, I am going to do the shoppng with a recipe of equipment I want! My nephew.who has gained experience and education through going to school will bake this baby with the ingredients I choose. COST? Parts.no labor added or brand name added on.

PC's and Life:

Not everyone has a fantastic nephew who can build a fast system from scratch. You are still better to go with a company who * builds * to your specification rather than the brand name a certain store pushes. People have different tastes. You may want functions that I don't want. I may want a specific editor installed than what store assembly lines offer. So, the best way is to keep control of your money and get the best for it that applies to * you. * Cost and quality isn't always all at once. Selecting your specifications  can be done over a period of time as you have the money. Having a basic fast computer to start and adding on later is far better than having everything at once, including manufacturer's junk, and missing quality functions. Network, there are brilliant people out there making these at low to no added cost which are higher quality for your money than manufactured assembly line pc. Enjoy.:-)
