Assembled VS Branded Computers

So you finally decided to purchase Computer & confused what to choose. In this review I will put some points in front of you that will help you in your decision. I will not make this review as Flame Post, anyway here's the review.

What is the Assembled computer anyway?:-

[1] The configuration is of users choice, and price varies accordingly.

[2] Technical Support depends on the vendor, also found to be poor/misleading in most of cases.

[3] Spares originality is under question.Most of vendors cheat with thier customers(By providing used RAM's, Hard Drives).

[4] Assembled purchase is pure luck for most of people while many professionals may consider it cheaper option but it is not recommended for newbie's.

[5] Need to spend money on Operating system and other extra stuff.

What about Branded computers?:-

Branded computers offer some preety good configuration at some higher price.They collect the extra price for advertisig ofcourse. Branded computer are good over assembled in few points like

[1] Spares originality, Service contract.

[2] Technical support.

[3] Upgrade options are available with most brands.(Low cost on upgraded stuff)

[4] No need to spend money on Operating system, UPS as it is usually bundled with package.

Some of above mentioned points increases the price of the whole package but you get what you paid for. People choose assembled computers only in two conditions 1] They know everything in computers and wanna go with their own configuration.

2] Newbies who wants to start their computer experience with cheap PC and payments in installments.

Check listBefore making Assembled purchase take look at these things:-

[1]Processor:-Get the fastest processor you can afford.Intel or AMD its your choice again.My recomendation go with Intel 2.6 HT or higher.

[2]Memory:-Get more memory, this will make your applications and OS fly.(Min 256 or higher)

[3]Hard drive:-60GB to 80 GB is fine.Try to purchase Samsung, Western digital, Maxtor because they offer 2 years warranty with instant replacement.avoid seagate, as brand have trouble with Hard disk quality & replacement support.

[4]Monitor:-15' or 17' depends on your needs.don't spend on it too much as most of peoples work fine with 15'.

[5]Keyboard & Mouse:-Go with Logitech, microsoft mouse.many brands are out there but I found these two good ones.

[6]Motherboard:-Better to invest on one that performs well, You can consider Intel, ASus, Gigabyte or even abit.but please watch out from Brands like Mercury and Via Because these brands have performance issues.

Let's move on to Operating system, Most of the vendors will give you Windows XP Pro or Longhorn From now on.But some vendors are even distributing Suse or Turbo Linux distros.If you are Windows Fan then you can settle with Xp pro but for linux lovers Suse is good choice.

If you have stretched budget & have preety good knowledge of computers then Apple's Mac will be another choice.Apple products costs too much but after using it you will understand why they cost so much.And by the way all features you see in windows are there in Mac, may be more if we look deep inside it.

Many computer vendors fool thier customer if they don't have any knowledge in computers, so try to collect all possible information about computer even if your work is realted to data management, imaging etc. You will benefir from any extra knowledge you get about computers. Becuase if you get frustrated with purchase of computers at start you will not be happy with your computer which in turn affect your work. Even if you droped into such situation then keep your head cool as much as you can, only your pateince can let you get out of it.

Branded computers like Zenith, HCL offers some nice configured PC at low rates, while with IBM, Dell, Compaq prices will increase. With these brands you can take decision instantly, but new LG & other newly launched Brands you need to think before purchasing.

Before purchasing Assembled computers try to find out the history of vendor who's offering you PC, try to find out his customers reactions, his market relations, from where he purchase spares etc. check if that source is reliable.

Anyway it's all upto user on what to buy and what to not. If branded computer satisfies your performance, needs & stuff all that you need then go with it.

Maybe whatever information I supplied is too much for some peoples as they trust their vendor or they purchased from reliable & technically sound vendor. I posted the some of my worst experiences inside this review, anyway suggestions, comments, corrections welcome.
