Mahesh Babu's Family Celebration

Much awaited anticipation for Prince Mahesh Babu’s Brahmotsavam has ended, finally, after a year. He is back with all his charms and grit in this flick, and let me clear the air, the beginning itself promises some celebration time and it definitely continues to do so throughout the movie. Srikanth Addala who has given a blockbuster hit to Mahesh Babu with Seethamma Vaakitlo Sirimalle Chettu, this combination has once again created magic on the big screen.

Brahmotsavam is the story of an entire family’s journey over a period of few months. Sathyaraj is a wealthy businessman, founder of Paint business that has value of about Rs. 400 crores. He survives this success with his wife played by Revathi and his son, obviously Mahesh Babu. His humility and benevolence is given by Rohini Hattangadi’s husband, which enables him to set a small shop that grows into a big conglomerate. Sathyaraj shares his affection and wealth with Rohini’s four sons but her husband plays the antagonist. He wants his daughter Praneetha to be married to Mahesh(everybody does).

Talking about Mahesh Babu, he is like the ever-so-charming, simple boy from Vijaywada, who loves his close-knitted family. But good-going life takes twists and turns when he meets the daughter of his dad’s close friend, played by Kajal Aggarwal. The two fall in love immediately, without much lovey-dovey scenes to go through. That love-at-first-sight feeling suits them. As both of them realize that they love each other and just make for a sweet kiss, the scenario is witnessed by Mahesh’s uncle and all hell breaks loose. Ever-so-linked-tightly together relations fall apart at drop of a ball.

This is a without-spoiler review, so I would suggest everyone to find out for themselves how Mahesh earns back all the goodwill of his relatives. I am doing so because that’s the main chunk of the movie to be enjoyed. You will be happy I did this.

Performances have made this movie step a pedestal up. Satyaraj in his ever glory and dignified persona, makes the soul for this film and just makes every scene watchable whenever he is present. Something that I can find in only few actors, that their presence can make the screen become more accentuated. Mahesh Babu has been certainly practicing to up his game with lead ladies and excels in doing so. His dressing style, subtle acting and romancing with Samantha and Kajal seems very natural and comfortable. Samantha playing the role of helpful-friend, and still an eye-candy, sizzles the screen with her vivacity thousand time than the glamour sprinkled by Kajal. Revathi and Jayasudha play their characters like pros and went through their lines well. Though it would have been nice to just edit few scenes between them, rather burnt if they could.

All in all, Mahesh Babu fans are in for some sweet treat as this superstar has transformed like never before. It’s a movie to watch if you love your family and believe in its day-to-day drama. This flick is going to give you some serious family goals because Srikanth Addala has defined some good ones and Mahesh Babu executed them well.
