Today my review concerns a product which I'm sure will be the delight of many people, esp. those who love eating healthy idlis & dosas!
What goes best with dosa and idli?
Apart from coconut chutney, it's a spicy side dish called Sambar!
I have tried and tested many Sambar powders in the past. But, the one brand that really gives an authentic South Indian taste is Brahmins Sambar Powder!
Just pressure-cook toovar dal(sambar dal), small onions(shallots), a piece of garlic, tomatoes, curry leaves and a few veggies of your choice.Add salt. Add a bit of tamarind water for that tangy taste. Corander leaves optional. Then add this powder.
Voila! Sambar Ready!
N.B. Add oil tempered with mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, jeera, dry red chillies, shallots & curry leaves in the end.
