Personally I do not think that Boxing should even be called a sport. It is a fight in every sense of the word. ..A bitter fight unto collapse, maybe even death of the opponent. What's so sporty about this ? And worse, hundreds of thousands of people jeering them, encouraging them and egging them on to bash up the opponent's face, pulverise his nose, break his spine, kill...kill...kill!

I think this is worse than a bull-fight, with 2 rational animals (humans) doing the purely beastly act.Even women who are supposed to be the better half, the softer sex, tender, even elegant, are the active members in this blood -thirsty crowd. How low can one stoop in perpetrating barbaric acts ?

Even after realising the tragedy of Cassius Clay Mohammad Ali's affliction and brain damage this sport still survives and is rearing to go with the comeback of yet another barbarian Tyson. Even after biting off his opponent's ear, he is able to create such joyful excitement in today's stoneage man with the publicity of his comeback to the boxing ring. Unbelievable how a sport can expose the beast in Man. And then this is accompanied by today's vices...BETTING and FIXING and loads of money, broken bones, tears and unhappy homes.

FLASH NEWS: (Three months after I wrote the above review) In support of the Title of my review and it's contents, I would like to add the news which I have just read in TOI, page 20 of April 23, 2001 : A boxer, age 19 collapses after winning his first professioal bout and DIES of BRAIN DAMAGE at Pueblo (Colorado)
