Well, my review is not about the 901, but their lower version, the 301's.
I was in love with Bose the first time I saw them. I was more interested in purchasing the AM-10 system and was all set to do so. But lot of visits to the showroom in Delhi and Bangalore brought me to the conclusion that the AM-10 is not so great as marketed by their sales people in the show room. You have to have a ear to listen to the minute details of the audio tracks on the AM-10 and compare them with the other floor standing and book shelf speakers of Bose and you will know what I am saying.
I also compared a lot of other speakers for my AV receiver. BTW, I have an Onkyo TX301 6.1 channel AV receiver having 150W RMS each. I reviewed lot of speakers for my front channels. List included JBL, Onkyo, Harmon Kardon, B&W, ProFX, Sonodyne and lots more. But I could not get that crispness that I heard in Bose 301's. A lot of reviews suggested that the 301's made excellent back speakers. So I decided to purchase the 301's as my back speakers. My search for the perfect front speakers is still on.
So based on this decision. I went to the Bose showroom and as a final test of 301, I asked the salesman to play the same audio track and a DVD on the 301 and the AM-10. And cleary, the 301's could provide more clear output as compared to the AM-10.
Now coming to the quality of service at the Bose showroom. I was promised that the speakers would be delivered to my home free of cost. As soon as I paid the Rs 24K, I was in for a shock as the senior salesman came up to me told me that free home delivery is only provided to the AM sets. I was on the verge of blows!!! And that too after paying such a huge amount. I was furious and just wanted to walk out asking for a refund. But I did not want to loose my cool as I had done lot of study over buying the perfect back speakers. I gave him my peace of mind and I walked out of the showroom with my speakers. Talk about Bose service!!!!Worse ever I have seen.
But the good part is that I am very happy of the 301's. I can hear the most minute details of the playback, whether it is audio or movies. I have no regrets on buying it.
But the service is what turned me off. I made a complaint of this on the site and got a call saying that they will look into it. Hopefully they should look into it.
