The online revolution came to India about a decade ago but it is only with the advent of the mobile phone has the explosion taken place.
Bookmyshow is a case of a company at the right place at the right time but have they taken full advantage of this online revolution? only time will tell but it has been a mixed bag till date.
The basic- it is an online booking platform for all sorts of tickets, primarily movie tickets but have also spread their wings into other box offices most noticeably the IPL.
Their bloodline is impeccable, owned by Network18-backed Bigtree Entertainment.so systems and processes are all in place, or see it seems
How’s the experience – it is a very good one till you get tripped the first time around and many have tripped on this site, the servers are slow especially during peak booking hrs and that is when you experience problems with their online booking platform
For me booking on this site was a breeze till I had one bad experience( more about that later) and had no complaints till that time. Especially home delivery of IPL tickets for the last three years at Wankhede stadium has been beautiful and without any problems.
One issue that I used to wonder– why do you have an internet surcharge for online booking? this is still not clear despite various defences served by the company.
Now about the single bad experience – was during a booking on a Saturday evening when the first booking was not concluded and the second booking was successful.
However, both the bookings were made with two different credit cards and I was billed for both these transactions under two different companies (none of them had the billers name as Bookmyshow) Customer service admittedly was very prompt but continued to insist that both the transactions were valid and therefore none of them would be cancelled.
I suppose the only real victim was the movie which I had to watch with a real bad taste in the mouth.
But overall this a good online booking site. Their Android and iPhone applications are also well designed and booking is a breeze.
