I've used Bookmyshow.com several times to book tickets for Movies, Concerts and few events like Comic Con Mumbai.
The website is very user friendly. You have to select your city, it will show all the events happening there. For instance, if it's a movie it will ask you to select the multiplex, then the show timings. It also, shows a map of the hall and allows you to select tickets as per convenience. There's only one downside to booking tickets here, the service tax. As itself the multiplex tickets and food costs a bomb, adding a service charge is bit too much. That's why I book tickets on bookmyshow only when I'm not able to book a ticket from the theater itself or when I want to prebook tickets.
bookmyshow was also helpful when I wanted to attend the comic con Mumbai, bookmyshow helped me jump the queue as the line for bookmyshow tickets was different and much shorter. It saved me a lot of time.
Bookmyshow might help you save time, but at a small cost.
