This book was first published in the year I was born. It is a booker prize winning genius written with the master strokes by Keri Hulme.
The book is amazingly styled in narration. The author sometimes narrates in the first person, and yet at other times it becomes a third person narration altogether. The author takes liberty to play with the words(limiting words into patterns is a crime), sometimes in form of prose and sometimes in forms of verse.
It is an impressive mix of language and literature- played beautifully. This explains why this book won the Man Booker award. I am not going to reveal the plot or the story here- but that shouldn’t not take away any interest from it. It is a collector’s piece by all means!
