Nanapatekar is rana a master director who has own international acclaims for his films and is in search for a proper heroine for his next project .. He eventually manages to make a film with no publicity of the heroine or her pictures appearing in any of the posters or the media.. On the day of her first press meet the unprecedented turn of events result in the murder of the heroine by the director himself. Arjun as vivek is a cbi officer who is assigned to figure out the deaths of two other persons one a village chief played by manivannan and the film financiers son , in both the cases the shooting gets packed off much before schedule and there are enormous suspicion that the director is involved in both the murders as well ..
What unfolds is the enquiry of the world famous director and the flash back of events which raises lots of suspicions on the directors involvement in all the three murders . However there are other reasons which does not establish him as the master killer and hence is eventually released as a free bird.
Once released vivek is determined to find the truth and what unfolds is the suspense behind the plot of bommallattam. The debutants in parvati and kaajal do a fair job especially with bharathiraja at helm of affairs you expect them to act. Music is by himesh reshmiya is just a formality and nothing really registers ..
Vivek comes in with a small cameo but then wasted largely probably added only to boost the commercial aspect of the film. Manivannan as the village chief is a pain in the a$$ even for the audience and I am almost wonder why he accepted such a tricky undignified role as it turns out in the end
The suspense is well maintained till the end but then when suspense unfolds the audience would be pleasantly shocked not because of the suspense but then such a masterly director could be so illogical in choosing the cast for the plot especially nanas heroine no matter the justification he tries to give for the role with all the flash backs
Ranjitha yester actress also has a small role to play as the directors wife but never really leaves any impact to justify her presence ..
B.kannan has always been part and parcel of bharathi raja and does a fair work with sabu cyril the art director some of the sets and locations are quite a visual treat..
The movie to create a real impact is bit two paced and with nizhalgal ravi dubbing for nanapatekar I personally felt that it looked like watching a dubbed movie ..
Nanapatekar is the arrogant eccentric job oriented perfectionist and he plays his role aptly
Overall the movie is a desperate attempt by the veteran director who established his masterliness with tik tik tik and sigappu rojakkal with crime subjects to present another subject but then perhaps the movie could have done well if the same had been made in the 90's .. one would have so many questions unanswered with simple logic when the suspence unfolds ..
The logic behind the choice of character trishna by rana who makes a film in this film and the real director of this film is the biggest drawback inspite of all the ingredients to top the suspense chart the film lets you down immensely especially when you relate who is at the helm of affairs ...
