Its not shocking for the people of Mumbai (formerly Bombay) to experience a horrid act from the B.M.C at least once in their busy week. I have been associated with this organisation for the last 7 years eversince I graduated from a hotel management college and decided to be a part of a 5 star hotel. Now even after 7 years and couple of job changes every hotelier in Mumbai is a living witness to the so called respectable job done by the B.M.C under the autonomous supervision of the Ho'able Dear Mr Commissioner.
Be it licence work, Renewal or new, Building planning / construction or simple visit to the ward office for water/sewage issues, one has to be ''careful'' not to bother the busy officials at the same time ''busy officials'' will attend to your work as soon as their works are attended to.
Yes sir, without attending to them u can be rest assured that your work will lie on a pile of dust on their tables in front of their eyes just for you to have a word with them and ''negotiate''. Nothing doing sir, your papers are not going to budge a table unless the client is not harassed and has been prooved many a time the importance of the B.M.C.
Last at least 10 years Mumbai is witness to the concretising of the roads which was a 5 year plan with crores of rupees pumped to various contractors, sub-contractors. It has indeed stood the test of time and that your kids or your grand children or their grand children will have a digging-free concrete roads in mumbai, a very distant dream.
I had the privilege to visit some of our east-asian countries and the Municipality there is looked upon and depended upon by the people proudly.
Look at Delhi, not that it's our capital but Municipality there is an aggressive body managing roads, transport, water and electricity more effeciently than Bombay which is supposed to be a Commercial capital of our Country and a visitors heaven.
Dunno when Mumbai'ites will wake up to that.
