Expensive. Review on Bombay Blue, Jayanagar, Bangalore

This review is on Copper Chimney situated in the same building as Bombay blues and also I guess belongs to the same group, But I couldn't find the heading in the reviews, Hence writing it under Bombay Blues.

We visited the restuarant yesterday in the Bangalore Central Building. The 1st impression was very good, The ambience was very nice and the staff was welcoming.

We were seated outside on the terrace as there was no room inside, We were given menu cards and the 1st think that hit me was the price. There was no diff. in price between the starters and Maincourse and very little difference between veg and Non veg, Everything was upwards of 150 bucks.

we decided to have a vegetarian starter and a chicken dish as main course along with roti and I wanted to have a fresh lime, But the waiter literally pushed us into have a mocktail which wasn't mentioned in the menu ( Their way of making a fast buck ).Being tired and hungry I didnt push too much and said ok to the mocktail ( I was being a bit of a fool wasn't I).Finally the great mocktails came and it was pretty ordinary and not even cold so I was let down.The starter was Ok it was just some Aloo, Gobi and paneer grilled in a Tandoor, The taste was good but the quantity did not certainly justify 165 Rs!!.The non veg dish was pretty good but again, there was a lot of gravy and little chicken.The roti was fine but again not worth 20 bucks each.

The serving time and the service was fine , it wasnt very different from other restaurants in the same range. It took a while to get the bill and I was getting a lil irritated as we were sitting out and all I wanted after lunch was to pay and get done with it.

The bill certainly shook me up and shocked me out of my wits!!! it cam to around 850 bucks ( Rather lot for 2 soft drinks, 4 rotis, 1 non veg dish and a veg starter).I was fuming when I saw that they had charged me 300 Rs + taxes for 2 very average mocktails.I wanted to create a scene but my wife wasn't upto it and we paid up left a very small tip and walked out.

I personally wouldn't visit this place again as I was put off by the experience and I'm sure there would be some more who would feel the same after they got the mocktails dumped on them.I do believe that there are better restaurants in Bangalore that offer a equally good view and service and serve better food at better prices.
