I am finding it very surprising that I am the first one to write my comments on Boman Irani, for he is such a versatile actor. The kind of depth he has had in the movies he appeared till now is really appreciable. In fact, I am realy sorry even I haven't penned down anything about him. See him any movie he has worked in and he would leave his presence strongly felt.
- SAVE PETROL- I saw him first in various advertisements, I don't even remember how many. The only one I remember is the SAVE PETROL campaign where he appeared to be saving money by doing some really wierd things. Firstly he is seen to be reusing the tea bags used by his father. Besides, he is seen to keep separate collars of different colours for a single shirt whose collar is missing; he only changed the collars while going to the office. Similarly, he would pick the newspaper of the neighbor and after having read it throws it back to the neighbour's house. Later the narrator says that he could save a lot of money if he had turn down the car thereby saving a lot of petrol.
The amount of innocence displayed by Boman in the advertisement really stated the state of mind the person. It was really funny ad and had still very hard hitting statement.
DARNA MANA HAI- He played a psychic hotel owner who hates smoking and hates persons who smoke. Saif played the role of a photographer who came as one of the customers, and had to be there forever. A very strange and hard to belioeve story line. Boman has depicted the character in am excellent that compels the viewer to feel the scare. Boman hangs NO SMOKING boards everywhere in the hotel - in the lobby, in the staircase, even in the rooms, saying that it is a NO SMOKING hotel. He even snatches the ciggarette packet from Saif. When Saif says he would go out to smoke, Boman doesn't agree and locks the main gate. He further shows the basement room full of dead bodies, who didn't want to leave the habit of smoking, thereby scaring Saif to keep smoking out of his mind. Later it is showed that even Saif is trained to give the same message to the visitors.
VEER ZARA- In this movie he had a very short role but made his presence felt. He played the father of Preity Zinta, a Pakistani politician willing to become the prime minister of the country. He is initially shown to be a much disciplined minister who is more into politics more than his family. But later he is shown to understand the value of love and feelings. When the movie is seen, it is hard to believe that the same person has been playing comic characters so appropriately in his career. In this movie, he is seldom seen to be smiling even in the entire set of scenes he is seen.
MUNNA BHAI MBBS- He has shown his greatest capabilities in this movie. He is shown to be professor in a medical college cum hospital, where Munna(Sanjay Dutt), a road side mawali some how manages to get admission. BomanIn this movie, he has a daughter who also plays a doctor in the same hospital. the movie contains the tug of war between him and Munna in a comical fashion. It shows a nice healthy father daughter relation. The way the daughter loves the chap but unable to go against her father is what is shown in the movie. In fact she not even tell here father about the fact she loves him. Boman would never consider or give approval of such a mismatch. Boman's performance got real good appreciation. This is was possibly the best and biggest banner and actors he was working with, and he did the job absolutely the way his director would have expected him to be.
PAGE 3 – In this movie Boman played an editor of a newspaper company. Madhur Bhandarkar was able the director was able to extract out the excellence out of Boman who plays a person who goes against an honest reporter, who tries to bring the reality stories about persons who have high contacts. He is shown not be willing to fire the reporter but has to do it just to be in accordance with the top management persons.
