Where do I start? When I first heard about this movie I thought aha, another movie by one of the best actors in bollywood today. Yes, I'm talking about Abhishek Bachchan. I couldn't wait fo the movie to come out, and when it did, did it live up to my expectations? The answer is a resounding YES!! Bollywood has done it again, another meaningful movie with no meaningless romance and feuding families. Honestly, I can't think of anything that's wrong with this movie. Whether it be a copy or not, I don't care. sometimes the remake of a movie is better than the original anyway, not that I've watched Matchstick Men, nor do I wish to.
The plot
Roy (Abhishek) is a con man who loses his girlfriend Simmi (Priyanka Chopra) because of his scams. while trying to win her back, he meets a small time con man named Dittu (Ritesh). At first, Dittu and his partner try to con Roy, but are caught out by him. Roy then meets doctor Balerao (Boman Irani) whom he saves from being conned by Dittu. Dittu then convinces Roy to teach him the tricks of the trade and it turns out Dittu wants to con another con man Chandru, but can only do this with the help of the bluffmaster. What follows is a wickedly humourous and fast paced film with an amazing climax.
The Cast
Abhishek as Roy what more needs to be said about him? In the first half of the film, the movie belongs to him. His depiction of the suave con man was top notch. His emotional scenes with Priyanka were easy to believe and the audiene could feel how heartfelt he was in his determination to change for her sake. Overall an excellent performance.
Priyanka as Simmi I don't understand why people say she can't act. Give me Priyanka Chopra over Amisha Patel any day she impresses with her dialogue delivery and her portrayal of a ''good'' girl shows her abilities as an actress, in that she can play both villanous and good characters.
Ritesh as Dittu was a riot!! He was funny without trying too hard and at all the right moments. this guy is definitely suited for comedic roles as he does them so well. His emotional scene was a bit so-so, as you couldn't decide whether to laugh or sympathise with him.
Boman Irani as Dr Balerao the first movie I saw with Boman Irani was Main hoon Na, and he was funny in that one. In this one he is simply hilarious as the bumbling doctor.
Nana Patekar as Chandru He was the heart of the movie! He got all the funny one-liners, and the deadpan way in which he gave them was even more hilarious. If anything, go see the movie for Nana's performance.
Now the movie
What can I say? another good movie in 2005, I loved it!! Let's start with the music, all the songs were fabulous, there were no bad or boring songs, but my favourites have to be ''Right Here Right Now'' and ''Bure Bure'' those songs rock!! The acting in this movie was all top notch, and I must say, this is one of the few in which all the main characters put on a very good performance. I especially loved the climax...classic, this is one of those that leaves the audience going ''WHAT?''
