Movie: BluffMaster
Leading Cast: Abhishek Bachhan, Priyanka Chopra, Nana Patekar, Ritiesh Deshmukh
Director: Rohan Sippy
Plot:
The movie is about a con-man named Roy(Abhishek Bacchan) who tricks people and flees away with their money. It is also about another ''trying to be'' a con-man Dittu played by Ritiesh Deshmukh. Enters another rich wealthy hotelier who also cons people played by Nana Patekar. This makes out a plot with suspense, humor and drama. Add then an outgoing, occasionally sneaky Priyanka Chopra to the mix, who has a love/loathe relationship with Roy, and there's the map work for an interesting, if here and there predictable, comedy/crime film. It's a simple story with few people, yet it's a good one. But we can't say it is original. Its a total rip off of Nicolas Cage starrer ''Matchstick Men'' wherein Nicolas too is named Roy. However still the story keeps you glued to the seat. The story begins with Roy conning a wealthy producer and moves at a bit slow pace till Ritiesh Deshmukh's entry. Within that pace Roy's engagement with Priyanka Chopra breaks when she learns that he is con man.
Sad and depressed Roy is trying to forget her when he suddenly meets Dittu who is also a con man but not as perfect as Roy. He urges Roy to train him when suddenly Roy realizes that his days on this earth are numbered. Hence as a last spoof they decide to con a wealthy hotelier cum con man played by Nana Patekar. They too succeed at this one but than destiny had some other plans for them which are revealed in the climax. The climax is somewhat lifted from the Michael Douglas starrer ''The Game''. The plot is not original but it is the screenplay and the acting that keeps this movie going. The film is solid enough entertainment, but it is rather predictable, particularly towards the end and could have done without the really irritating songs.
Acting:
Abhishek is really improving with his every new movie. Here too he delivers a substaintial performance.
Priyanka Chopra looks good on screen but her acting is limited.
Boman Irani too is good with his usual comic timing.
But the ultimate show stealers are Ritiesh and Nana Patekar.
Ritiesh is relly worth watching with his comic goofs. He actually stole several comedy scenes from Abhishek.
Nana Patekar is superb with his comedy and dialogue delivery. In Apaharan he was a tad serious but here we find him making us laugh with his witty dialogues.
If you watched Matchstick Men you might not like this one, if you haven't this one is worth watching as it gives you 2.5 hours of total entertainment.
