Wham ! Bluffmaster takes you completely by surprise. The entire treatment of the movie is so refreshingly different, that you almost feel like putting your hands together for the entire cast and crew involved in making this movie.

Revealing any of the plot in this review would actually be a sin, but the basic surmise is as follows:

AB (Roy) is a con man who after taking people for a ride, manages to rake up enough moolah to purchase a posh flat in a high-rise and propose to his girlfriend of 6 months, Priyanka Chopra.

But his shady past is revealed , and the marriage is off. Dumped by Chopra, he still doesnt lose heart and attempts to woo her back. During the course of which he meets and befriends Riteish Deshmukh (Dittu) , another con man. Riteish looks to him as his guru and AB begins coaching him about the finer points of pulling of a con job. Things look peachy, but life takes a drastic turn when AB is diagnosed with a growing brain tumor and is given 90 days to live by Dr.Bhalerao(played by Boman Irani). Meanwhile, Riteish looks to AB for help in pulling off the biggest con job ever, getting back at Chandru(Nana Patekar) who had robbed Riteishs father of his lifes earnings.

And then.............

Right from the first frame, Bluffmaster has been shot in Mumbai, which gives the movie a very believable look. The dialogues deserve a special mention..they are crisp, to the point and in many cases, downright hilarious.

Rohan Sippy has come of age after his disastrous 'Kuch Na Kaho'. He has handled a tight script (supposedly copied from 'The Game' ) with great maturity.

At many places in the movie, the scenes cal for the just the right amount of Over-the-top acting, and the directors touch is clearly evident in pegging back the emotions at just the right degree.

The music, though not an out-and-out chart buster, is hummable.

The editing of the movie is superlative, with the frames cutting in and fading out smoothly and at just the right pace.

AND NOW, THE PERFORMANCES:

AB : 2005 threatens to be his year, with Sarkar, Bunty aur Babli and now Bluffmaster. He is simply superb throughout the movie, showing awesome comic timing and giving just the right expressions. He is well draped throughout and his style , though now becoming characteristic, is classy. Bluffmaster belongs to him.

Priyanka Chopra : Does a good job, not overacting at any point. Looks pretty, but could have looked prettier.

Nana Patekar: Is sure to bring the house down with his lines, breathes fire into the second half.

Riteish Deshmukh: Carries on from where he left of in Kya Kool Hai Hum, is perfectly suited for the role. This guy will go along way yet.

The real winner of this movie is the surprise ending. Hitting you smack across the face, it suddenly lifts the movie up by a few degrees.

Bluffmaster could be the underdog at the awards, much like Munnabhai MBBS a year ago.

This is one bluff, that you will jolly well not mind. Go for it.
