I just want to share my experience hoping it will help someone in some way. I ordered a pair of ruby and diamond earrings from this site. Here are a few catches of this smart e-jeweller: Firstly the diamond and gemstone weight is included in the gold weight. Second - the carat of the gemstone i.e. how they calculate the gemstone rate is unknown. Well, gemstone rates are known as per the quality of the gemstone used and they do not reveal the quality of the same. They just claim a AAA rating as per some independent gemological body. But what quality the Ruby is - eg. Burmese, Indian etc. is not disclosed, even when asked. Moreover, a separate authenticity certificate of the gemstone in particular is not provided.
Thirdly, they do not display the per carat rate of the diamonds as well, which means you don't know how much you are paying per carat at any point of time. The 18 k gold rate used for the calculation is also not mentioned. When you ask the person in the live chat, he isn't sure of the info and gives only'template' answers. Lastly, the market value of their jewellery is really low and it is a fact, so they encourage you to return and repair with them only.
Jewellers can put ANY retail price they want on their diamonds. Usually diamonds sold cheaper on the Internet have a very good reason why they’re cheaper. Like poor cuts, shallow stones, deep pavilions or even horrible fluorescence! It doesn’t matter how ‘Sweet’ the deal sounds, what matters is how much you end up Paying! People are under the impression that if a diamond is certified, it MUST be good! WRONG! The name “Certified Diamond” can make any poor quality diamond sound legit and valuable. But that ‘Certificate’ may amount to nothing. What matters the most, is what the quality of the diamond is and who certified it! And, out of all the certificate companies out there, I recommend GIA! And for metal purity, do go in only for BIS hallmark jewellery. The Indian jewellery industry considers BIS hallmarking as the highest proof of authenticity of gold.
There are many tempting offers this site offers on a regular basis but the fact is that the company is still making big profits with every order. Their designs sure are attractive and delivery is prompt with appropriate insured packing till it reaches your doorstep, but it's always better to be a little cautious to see if you get the'full value' of the hard earned money you paid for your chosen product.
My last word, be smart and calculate the real value as per the current market rate of the product before placing an order. There is no harm in purchasing from this site, it's just that you need to learn to shop smarter with really smart companies like these.
Happy Shopping!
