Story:

This is an essay on body politics

Before going to the story, kindly be advised that Body Politics are constructed by whitemen to take advantage of other people.....

The main purpose of this review is to resist this distorted beauty discourse

It is bad when white people imposed the racism upon Black people. But it is worst when the Black people accept that notion and developed the hatred towards themselve.

This novel is Toni Morrison's first novel released in 1970. This novel aims to reveal the complex of Human's beauty Idealogy caused by the class structure, media, films, fashion or even children's story.Meanwhile this novel is a attempt of constructing the black female autonomy and African American cultural identity.Surrounded by white society, the blue eyes are what Pecola dreams of. Pecola drinks milk a lot because she believes that it will make her white.

The story is about Black girl who was raped by her father. Moreover, the concept of " Being black is ugly" is deep rooted in her mind. Her ideal world is white family where there were Mother, Father, Dick and Jane ( her imaginary family)

Pauline, her mother did not take of care of her. She used to be the maid in the white family. Her life was sad as she was abused at home, and was humiliated outside.

At the school, Pecola was alienated by her teacher and her friends as "she was also the only member of class who sat alone at a double desk. She was also abused by "less black" boy whose name is Geraldine. Geraldine deceived her into his house and threw the cat on her face, and scolds to her that you nasty little black bitch.

Maureen, one of Pecola's classmate said to her that" I'm cute and you're ugly" Unlike poor Pecola, Claudia, the narrator of the story, has developped a sense of resistance of White American beauty Idealogy. When Claudia's mother bought her a white babie doll, her suddenly destroyed that babie. This act of destroying the white barbie is the act of freeing herself from the white's prejudice.

Pecola failed, at last, because of her submissiveness towards psycological and economical barriers caused by the white. Morrison's target is warm us of dangerous and destructive norms caused by the white who set the superiority by using skin color as the standard.

The process of whitening is process of eradication of "others". In other word, it was the repetition of the greed for colonization that always stay in whitemen's genes.
