~~~Blue~~~. Review on Blue

Excellence has no alternative. Hard work has no substitute. Perfection is never incomplete. Loyalty never betrays. Quality marks its presence clear but shows its missing Clearer!

Underwater Cinematography of Blue is Excellent. Action scenes of it are Very Good. Blue is ok for its music and the choreography. Editing of the movie is good.

It has glamour in good dose, where Lara Dutta decides to regain the glamour tag. Sound recording and background score show excellent merit. The movie has the hot and happening Akshay Kumar & Sanjay Dutt.

Then, what happened to Blue?? Only one thing! There had no story. The story line was very thin and old. Even that was not written well. Leaves alone cannot stand in air without the support of the branches. The branches and the body cannot stand alone without the support of the roots. Roots alone cannot make a tree as well. Here, the leaves and branches were there but no body or roots.

‘Treasure hunt to regain lost honour’ is the story in half a sentence. It would have worked even at that, had the makers made the adventure a real one. Instead of giving importance to the treasure hunt, the movie much concentrated on bike chase in different levels, at different paces. The treasure hunt as such didn’t felt like a treasure hut, but few amateurs taking diving sessions on the first hand. Later, it becomes a typical bollywood fight under water. But where was the treasure hunt on which the movie was concentrated? When the treasure is said to be taken out, we are only given a verbal detail of it, not the action. It was more like an incomplete hunt. Despite its weak storyline it would have worked if they shown an intensity in the treasure hunt as they shown in the case of the bike races. Also, the final 10 minutes of the movie was more unbelievable than ever. It made it as a mindless movie too.

Akshay Kumar looks quite old in the movie, which is not explained with his pairing with a teenage (yes, she looks younger in the film) looking Katrina Kaif. Even Sanjay Dutt looks old and lacks energy. (Watch All the Best and this one, to see the difference.) Lara Dutta looks fresh and cool (with glamour) where Katrina Kaif is limited in a small role which she did convincingly. Zayed Khan is ok. Rahul Dev – Good.

Music of the movie, we can consider as good, but not exceptional. Only the Chiggy Wiggy number stands alone, that too may fall short of excellence. Choreography got a mixed flavour and thereby invites a mixed reaction. Some are excellent, especially the first song but others were either good or just average including the chiggy wiggy.

Final Verdict? It is watchable for the cinematography, especially the underwater part and action scenes. Otherwise the movie lacks substance and thereby lost the charm and failed to make an impression.
