Let me start off by asking all a simple question. Why do we watch movies? Why do we spend time and money and keep going back to theatres every Friday?. I guess the answer is unanimous. We watch movies for Sheer Entertainment.

BLUE comes out straight from the “The Fast and the Furious/XXX/Death Proof” genre and in the 120 minutes of screen time it uses, the only thing it does is entertain. People looking for unnecessary logic needn’t go. You'll be disappointed to see how a movie can hold its audience back for 120 long minutes without the Critic's favourite "L" word.

BLUE stars off with a historical relevance. During Indian independence days, a part of the looted treasure was to be returned to India by British Govt., but the ship [The Lady in Blue] carrying the treasures hits with an accident and sinks in the Davy Jones’s locker somewhere near the Bahamas. The captain of the ship [Kabir Bedi] gets court martialled for the incident and commits suicide.

AaravMalhotra [Akshay Kumar] is a millionaire settled in the Bahamas and is minting money out of his fishery business and has limited friends, viz.Sagar Singh[Sanjay Dutt] and his drop dead gorgeous girlfriendMona[Lara Dutta]. From time to time Aarav pursues Sagar to go on a hunt for the lost treasure which he believes only Sagar can retrieve who is considered to be a champion deep sea diver, but each time Sagar reacts vehemently and tells Aarav no such treasures exist.

Samir Singh [Zayed Khan], Sagar's younger brother is a champion sports bike racer and is staying in Bangkok away from his brother after he left him because of Sagar's moral values. In the course he meets Nikki [Katrina Kaif] and falls in love with her. But he gets into a mess big time after taking a job from local goonGulshan[Rahul Dev]to deliver a package worth$ 50 million and fails to do it. Now he is left with no other option but to return the package which he lost while a cop chase or to give$ 50 million back within stipulated time.

Left with no other option, Samir flies back to the Bahamas and reunites with his brother. But as Aarav says in the movie “Aadmi apne aap se bhaag sakta hain, lekin apne kismat se nahin”, Gulshan and his henchmen follow Samir and kidnaps Mona with a deal to return her in trade of his$50 million or Samir.

Aarav, Sagar and Samir decide to follow their long awaiting fate and begin their hunt for the lost much hyped treasure ship “The Lady in Blue” which would help them to retrieve Mona and payback Gulshan his$50 million. A twist in the tale is what happens in the climax sequence, which is better left undisclosed.

One might feel a lack of a good script and a little abrupt and unconvincing end to the 120 minutes visual affair and I guess that is the only thing about the movie one can complain. The cinematography and the photography is top notch, specially the Blue Theme and the underwater treasure hunt scenes. The bike chases are A grade, may be the best in Indian Screen till date [with all due respect to Dhoom] . Akshay looks stunning followed by Katrina, Zayed and Lara. Sanjay looks a little out of the cot with his little paunch.

In a nutshell Blue initiate’s adrenaline rushes and gives a treat to your eyes. My recommendation – Grab a ticket and go for it without second thoughts. Like I said….”Blue is the colour of this festive season”
