BlackBerry Curve 8520 on Tata Docomo.

Tata Docomo has now launched the BlackBerry Curve 8520, adding it to the host of BlackBerry Services it already provides. Priced at Rs. 14, 990, the BlackBerry Curve 8520 along with Tata Docomo, will appeal to a wide range of both retail customers as well as business customers who want an exceptional mobile experience with an easy mobile access to email, SMS, social networking and Internet Browsing, as well as multimedia features like a music player, a video player and a camera along with video recording.

Announcing the launch of the BlackBerry Curve 8520, Pradeep Dwivedi, Senior Vice President, Tata Teleservices Limited, said “Tata Docomo recently rolled out its BlackBerry solution and has received an enthusiastic response. When we launched our BlackBerry services, we had promised our subscribers that we would bring them the best products and services. Living up to that brand promise, we are launching the stylish new BlackBerry Curve8520 smartphone for our customers. The major attraction of the BlackBerry Curve 8520 is that it brings the exceptional BlackBerry smartphone experience within the reach of a larger population.”

“The BlackBerry Curve 8520 is a sleek, stylish and approachable smartphone with a compelling mix of features. We believe this amazing new model, with its new trackpad navigation system and integrated multimedia features, will attract a broad range of mobile customers to the BlackBerry services offered on the Tata Docomo network, ” said Frenny Bawa, Vice President India, Research In Motion.

The BlackBerry Curve 8520 features a touch-sensitive trackpad, dedicated media keys, full QWERTY keyboard, full HTML browsing and supports Wi-Fi. The smartphone also offers a talktime of 4.5 hrs and standby time of 17 days.

Airtel and RIM bring the BlackBerry Curve 8520 Smartphone a.k.a Gemini to India at an incredible price Rs.15990

Airtel and RIM bring the BlackBerry Curve 8520 Smartphone a.ka. Gemini to India. And whats the most incredible thing about this phone is the price. Blackberry phones are usually known for their expensive price tag. But the Gemini breaks the myth and is priced at Rs.15990. The phone is aimed at youth and consumers looking for messaging / email , social networking , music and entertainment.

Interesting Features

Cheapest multimedia Blackberry Handset in the Indian market till now.

Touch sensitive trackpad which replaces the usual trackball.

Dedicated media keys ( Ever BB users need some Entertainment on the go .. Im not going to checking my email all the time)

Wi-Fi , EDGE , Bluetooth 2.0

Kinda thin at 13.99 mm and weighs 109g

2.46 inch (320×240) display

2.0 MP Camera with Video Recording

4.5 hrs of talk time and 17 days of standby time

BIS support as usual with support of 10 email accounts.

256MB Inbuilt memory

Expandable microSD memory ( no idea if there is a card in the box)

Prepaid Users can get Blackberry Power too !

We must say Blackyberry is a clear leader when it comes to Mobile Email and no 2nd thoughts about that. IPhone is still far away. Nokia Messaging is still betaish.  So looks like RIM wants mass market adoption of their device rather than just White collared CEOs . So you can get a Blackberry Email Service plan from Airtel at a monthly rental of Rs.299 only.

Availability and Price

The BlackBerry Curve 8520 will be available nationally from Airtel’s authorised outlets through Bharti Teletech Limited across India on August 7th. The Price would be Rs.15990

Airtel customers can sms ‘BB’ to 543210 to register to purchase the BlackBerry Curve 8520 and to get more information about the plans offered with the smartphone.

This BB was the first handset to support mac os out of the box. No word about the support in India. And No word about the App World launch date in India.

RIM (Research in Motion) and T-Mobile announced the Blackberry Curve 8520. It’s features include:

2MP Camera with QVGA Video Recording 2.64 inch 65k Colour TFT Display with 320*240 resolution 109 x 60 x 13.9 mm, 106g QWERTY Keyboard, Trackpad 512mHz Processor 256MB Internal Memory, micro-SD cards upto 16GB EDGE, Wi-Fi, micro-USB, Bluetooth MP3/AAC/AAC+/WMA playe DivX/XviD/MPEG4/WMV player GPS with A-GPS Support, 1150mAH Battery

It is the first Blackberry device to support MAC syncing right out of the box. A major feature it lacks is 3G. The handset is expected to be released at T-Mobile stores dates not available.
