I bought my Blackberry curve on 16th Feb 2010 from CROMA. I already had a Blackberry 8700 for my official mails and I was extremely happy with the same. I bought this handset for my personal use. Buying experience was extremely good and I was happy that I own new Blackberry smart phone. But my happiness did not last long , from the second week onwards my trackball started behaving absurd and my charger stopped working. Sometimes it worked and sometimes not.. I was busy travelling a lot , so could not manage to go for the repairs , but the real problem started when this phone started mixing up the contacts. The numbers were jumbled up and I had to type the number in order to call someone.
The display also started behaving mysteriously. I could not bear it, so I called CROMA where I was told that they do not have theaddressor the number of the Black berry service station. I spoke to few of my friends and was told that Redington India takes care of the service of Blackberry in India and went to the redington Service centre in Andheri, I spent more than 45 min in searching for the office as the receptionist was not giving the proper address and when tried calling again nobody picked up the call. Anyhow I managed to reach the centre , I waited for more than 2 hrs for my turn and then I got my problem sorted out . I was told that there was a problem in the track ball and they have changed it. They also gave me a new charger. I thought the problems are over . But Alas !the happiness was not long lived.. The track ball again stopped working . I tried calling the redington service station for two continuous days but no body was taking the calls ( U will be amazed to know that I was given some 6 - 7 numbers and none of them were responded).
On the third day I spoke to Mr Arif from redington, who gave me a toll free number and asked me to lauch a formal complaint. I called up the call centre and gave all the details to them. I was told that there is only one service centre in entire Mumbai , Thane and Navi Mumbai.I stayed in Thane so I had to come all the way to Khar to get the same done.. The service centre people at Khar were extremely un cooperative, they told me that they cant open the handset , so it will be sent to Bangalore for the checks. I fail to understand why is it called a service centre when they canteven openthe handsets there?? I was also warned that all my data will be wiped in order to get the handset repaired and I might have to pay for it. I want to know following things :
1) Why do they have only one service centre between Mumbai , Thane and Navi Mumbai? 2)Why are they charging the customer when the handset is under warrenty ? There was no negligence from the customer side. so why do we have to pay ?
3) Why cant blackberry monitor the level of after sales services for their handsets ? My impression about this brand is fading day by day ?
4) Why cant the data be saved ? How is track ball problem related to the memory ?
I only have a suggestion to make for all the people who are planning to buy a blackberry handset. Please think twice before making a decision .. the after sales is extremely bad and the hadset itself is problematic.
